Lahi - Cad - March 14, 2023
It was a herd of deer that roused Cad from his slumber.
Bright eyes opened, wide and watchful on the group of them. They moved slowly across the meadow, picking beneath the snow in search of grassy earth. They were graceful and majestic. Each step was made with a careful certainty. Their ears swiveled atop their long heads, searching for signs of danger.
Cad did not intend to chase them, to hunt them, or startle them from their search for food. The group of them had wandered into the outskirts of the meadow, just out of the reach of Kvarsheim’s scent markers. The medic watched as the deer had looked warily on the packlands. They would not test the confidence of the borders, he felt.
Hunkered down, the peach-faced wolf observed.
