faststep - Kaelan - March 29, 2023
Quick minded Kaelan, of the swiftest of judgements, had smelled the newest of their ranks. Knew that her sisters trained this newcomer.
Knew that Kaelan would not. She wouldn’t, unless ordered or impressed, that is. So, she just bulleted through the canyon as she had been since she arrived.
Her tongue lolled now, free of its ivory ringed prison, up and down and up and down with her breath and her pace, trotting as she delved deep into the canyon to find a pool of water to drink from. Spittle and flecks of foam rittled her face and chest, but she did not care to clean herself up. She was a scout and a brawler, not some fancy warrior who relied on apPeAranCEs to intimidate. She stuck her tongue out at the thought.
Blech.

of all xtabay's sisters, kaelan had always been the most intense presence to her. not that she'd disliked it, the shadow simply was immersed by the aura. despite this, la xtabay watched from a distance. remaining quiet, glacier eyes followed the spotted figure.
kaelan ran as the umbra merely walked along the sands between them. it was this moment she decided the canyon wasn't so bad. patrolling this barren place grew a fondness for it in xtabay's mind.

She noticed the presence a moment later, flagging her white tipped tail in a friendly, wagging greeting.
Sister!She crowed. To Kaelan, Xtabay was shadowy, but treated with the same friendly nature she treated every Holcan with.
Have you come to help me scent the rocks?

la xtabay's commonly grim expression was touched by a faint smile with her sister's greeting.

it was truly good to be alongside the holcan again, returning to familiar responsibilities.
