He'd left the mesa days ago, walking endlessly on what seemed to be empty ground. Sanguinex had lost his sense of belonging in the palace of emotional drought. Everyone there had gone astray, minds stuck on the recent events. He didn't quite have an interest in sticking around for whatever was to unfold.

Blank in thoughts, cold in expression, he walked on, searching for no particular thing. No longer did he have a care for purpose. He was alive, and that was all that mattered. Now it was only a matter of keeping himself alive. And however that happened, it happened.

Mid-squat, she caught the scent of another wolf. The marking laid upon the border, she moved forward, trudging through the forested area, the ground squelching beneath her paws. Spring rains had found them, and the forest had begun to come back to life with its thirst quenched.

In the distance, she caught sight of the stranger roving, head lowered and gaze distant. Unfocused, she thought- but she could change that. Arching her neck slightly, she chuffed a curt bark, and strode toward him with the intention of capturing his interest.

A bark disrupted him. And before he knew it, a child approached.

They had been busy before he arrived. Marking borders, as he could now tell the fresh scents were overwhelming.

Not knowing much of what to say, Sanguinex simply stared upon the foundling. Almost a bit begrudgingly so, but with no ill intent. Yet.

Simultaneously, she liked how tough he looked, but also disliked the lack of expression in his gaze. Most wolves showed some reaction to being greeted at the borders, but Lilia might’ve guessed by his lack of surprise that he didn’t even realize where he was.

She came to a stop and stiffened lightly, paws squared. There was no point in trying to flaunt posture, not when faced by someone whose stature was so much more impressive than hers- but here, at the borders of her own pack, she stood- knowing she had much more support at her beck and call than he would. She didn’t need to flex.

”Thith land’th claimed, by Redtail Rithe.” She informed him. ”What bringth you heah?” She asked.
