Your luck goes up and down, like swings and roundabouts. - Faelan - April 17, 2023

Paws repeatedly hit the damp ground in loud rhythmic thuds as the male swiftly gave chase through the vast, flourishing meadow. His light eyes were ablaze, focused solely upon the fleeing fawn coloured hare that dashed and scarpered frantically away from wide gaping jaws.

Faelan panted loudly, feeling the excitement and rush of the chase surging within as he inched closer and closer to the quick paced critter. The young man let out a growl of frustration as he began to push himself, sprinting, faster and faster – eagerly waiting for the right moment to pounce and win his prize.

It wasn’t a graceful pursuit, but after a short while, and what felt like forever - the moment came. And without hesitation, Faelan leapt forward, kicking his back paws against the ground, grass and dirt flying up behind him as he propelled himself straight toward the long-eared mammal. His mouth was open, glistening  fangs at the ready - till finally they pierced fur and flesh. The taste of iron flooded into his salivating mouth as he clamped his jaws down tightly. If only his father could see him now! However, the young male suddenly lost his footing and toppled over into the long grass with a surprised grunt. Regardless, Faelan couldn't help but grin as he lay upon the ground, peering up at the towering vegetation surrounding him.

She smelled food.

Cera had just gotten back from yet another failed hunt, and she smelled food. Whether this is a gift or a mockery from the heavens, she'd have to find out for herself as she approached the scent trail, mouth salivating and stomach rumbling.

The witch's hunting skills clearly weren't getting any better, but she trusted things like these would take patience. For now, she'd survived mostly off of discarded scraps, foraged berries and even a few bugs. The idea of eating insects was disgusting, yes, but wolves who sucked at hunting couldn't really afford to be picky about it.

Besides, there was a tang to certain ones that she found somewhat appetizing...

Finally, she had found the source of the scent, rustling within the tall grasses -- perfect! Probably a rabbit left to die, seeing as there wasn't anyone else around. Flagging a tail over her hocks in quite triumph, the sea sprite hummed as she skipped towards the rustling grasses to finish the struggling animal off and turn it into lunch.

What Cera wasn't expecting, however, was to be staring back at another wolf lying hidden in the grasses. With what appeared to be the very rabbit she'd tracked...

Faelan froze when he noticed the stranger looking down at him from between the towering flora, his bright gaze locking onto her own. The young man blinked at the woman, bemused. Well, this was certainly unexpected!

He watched her silently, until he felt the fur along his nape bristle, suddenly becoming aware of the vulnerable position he was currently in. Being laid upon your back wasn’t exactly ideal, especially when someone was looking down on you and so closely! Was she a friend or foe? Who knew! He let out a muffled growl at the thought as he quickly rolled over to conceal his off-white belly and shambled upright on to all four paws, hare still gripped tightly between his jaws.

Straightening himself and quietly trying to calm his nerves, the young man peered over at the woman and tilted his head, ”Cwan I hwelp ywou?” Faelan asked, words muffled as he tried to speak with his mouth full.

So sorry for the wait and quality

You're okay! <3

Eyes of seaglass rounded considerably at the little suprise -- not only was the rabbit there, but so was a wolf boy laying on his back. Cera jumped back considerably, like a spooked cat, and when her frosted paws reached the ground again they were practically glued to it.

Legs stiffened, hackles raised, and irises dialated -- the sea wolf was pretty much frozen in place.

The growl that escaped his maw did not help to ease her nerves, either. A flash of pearly ivories shone from her lips in warning, yet with her ears had matted against her skull and tail tucked against her pale belly, in was clear it was simply a bluff--

--it was visibly clear that Cera was scared.

Yet those were involuntary responses the witch had not learned to identify with ease. In her mind, the only thing she could recognize is the warning she'd been giving off -- in her mind, she appeared as intimidating as one could be. It was necessary.

It was survival.

An ear flicked as the young sire spoke. Though not towering by any sense, he was still larger and more muscular than she was. Yet he didn't seem that much older than her -- the boy looked quite young from what Cera could see.

"Yeah," she answered, straightening her posture with a bit more confidence than before. Knowing he was not much older than her gave her a bit of an ego boost, so to speak. Even being so bold as to claim the following;

"You're holding my prey. I found it first."

Noticing her own surprised spring at his sudden movements, Faelan paused and chuckled inside, but soon frowned when the woman bared pearly fangs his way. The young male snorted in response to this, remaining still within the tall grass as an unkept tail calmly swayed behind him. Light amber eyes shimmering in the dense light as he continued to observe the seemingly defensive female, till finally she spoke.

Oh... Wow.

Faelan smirked through fawn coloured fur at the woman’s last remark, a muffled laugh following as he gave a small disagreeable shake of his head, ”I dwon’t twhink swo.” He replied, his bushy banner giving an amused wag this time, ”Ywo swee, I hwave iwt fwirst”” Faelan added, eyes peering down to his crammed mouth and back to the blue-eyed woman, offering her a playful smirk of sorts.

He was laughing.

She was attempting to assert her dominance over him, and he was laughing.

Ceraphina frowned in displeasure, brows pinched over her eyes. How could this possibly be amusing to him, was she doing something wrong? She was not well versed in socializing with others, but if she had done her posturing correctly than this boy should've been lowering himself infront of her. Maybe it wasn't Cera doing something wrong -- maybe there was just something wrong with him.

That must've been why he continued laughing....and smiling....

--like she was some sort of joke.

As she stood there, staring at him bewilderedly, his continued amusement eventually caused a wave of unwelcomed embarrassment to wash over her -- and with blood beginning to rush towards the witch's cheeks, Cera growled irritability. Who the hell did he think he was!?

"What's so funny, huh!?"

Posturing herself in the same, straightened manner as before, Cera martched her way toward the wolf in question. It was obvious that her previous bluff wasn't gonna convince him -- so she'd have to use her actions instead.

--and once close enough, she'd lunge in an attempt to snatch the rabbit out his maw herself.
