I don't wanna know I'm not capable of coming out alive. - Nazli - April 27, 2023 The girl had thinned considerably since coming to this place. She had already been on the small side, however the duration of her stay had her relying on caches of food she was not used to, and she would pick at it; that and the stress of seeing the large woman from time to time, and being unaware of her own place among things, caused undue stress. In an effort to keep busy, Nazli had begun studying the water. It was different from the wellspring. The urge to clean the surface had been there in the beginning, but after a few days of near-meditative staring she had adopted a more relaxed view of the spacious lake. It would be futile to try and tidy it, she had reasoned. Besides that was not her job any longer. On occasion a fish would twitch near the surface and draw her eye, but Nazli had yet to summon the energy to pursue them. She felt a seed of jealousy over how free the fish were, even though they were themselves trapped in an environment with obvious boundaries; they seemed more free than she did, at any rate. RE: I don't wanna know I'm not capable of coming out alive. - Annorak - April 27, 2023 Though they did not speak often, Khaba still watched Nazli from afar. Curious, while also concerned. Her days were boring compared to those in the palace, no doubt. He worried that she missed it too much. That she needed it. But maybe things had changed. Maybe she would be safer to return, than to remain under his watch. As he thought on these things, he had watched her near the water. Moments later, he approached, sitting close. You miss it.He knew this to be true. Do you want to go back? The question escaped him before he could think twice. But he needed to know. It was never his intention to force her unto a life of misery. But maybe he had done just that. |
