The smaller the mind, the greater the conceit - Carrion - May 04, 2023 The fifth child was working her baby molars on a tree root at the front of the puppy den. She had already given it a stern talking-to, and now she chewed on it with the vicious might of a flea. This root deserved to be destroyed; it had dared to touch her, distract her from the mission. She couldn't even remember what that mission was anymore... see! This blasted thing had to go. She gnawed and gnawed and gnawed. RE: The smaller the mind, the greater the conceit - Ameline - May 06, 2023 Following a patrol that led to a successful hunt, Lilia cut a path that would take her toward Avicus’ den, so she might drop off half of the rabbit she’d caught. She didn’t intend to offend by bringing only half of it- but she was too hungry herself and in need of nutrients after having chased a coyote away from the borders, so she’d consumed the rabbit up to its midsection. The haunches she brought as a meal, modest as it was. She grinned over its tawny, fluffy fur at the kid who sat just outside the den, chewing a stick with mighty concentration. She dropped the rabbit’s haunch. ”What ya got there, pipthkweak?” She asked, sidling a bit closer. RE: The smaller the mind, the greater the conceit - Carrion - May 18, 2023 The child reared her head towards the sound of the dropped rabbit, her eyes wide with surprise. At least the carrier was fairly recognizable, which meant she felt no need to bark or bolt. After one or two more owlish blinks, she seemed to register that there was meat there and that something had been asked of her. But one of those things didn't matter much to her. She disentangled herself from the root and made a dive between Lilia's legs to get to that rabbit haunch. RE: The smaller the mind, the greater the conceit - Ameline - May 19, 2023 She grinned when the child's gaze fell upon the rabbit. It was intended for Avicus- but if she didn't show from the den to grab it within the next few minutes, it would probably be fairly soggy and lightly gummed by the time she did get at it. Lilia grinned down at the dark pup as she pounced toward the rabbit's haunch, tail waving. "You're the tough one, ain't ya?" She asked, dipping down into a play bow so she could have her face on the same level as Fifth's...Probably a bad idea, but it wasn't like she had enough experience with kids to know better. "Git it! Shake it! You show that wabbit who'th both!" She egged the kid on with a light growl. RE: The smaller the mind, the greater the conceit - Carrion - June 03, 2023 This was an overly competitive time in Fifth’s life, not that Lilia would know, so the tyrant toddler took great offense to the adolescent’s joyful encouragement, which was instead mistaken for an attempt to reclaim the body part. Fifth growled as she tried to yank and drag and use all her might to get the rabbit away from any competing jaws… but her defensiveness over the corpse suddenly waned. It smelled like food, except it was stiff and unpleasant. Not at all like what she actually wanted. Why did the big wolves care for these things? She abandoned the haunch and threw herself at Lilia’s muzzle, nipping, pawing, and licking in an attempt to get the real prize to drop. RE: The smaller the mind, the greater the conceit - Ameline - June 04, 2023 At first, she thought for sure the Fifth would claim the rabbit's haunch and make a huge fuss over it- but she seemed to realize quickly that it might be a bit much for her to manage. Not much more than an inanimate plaything, that wouldn't fight back or run away. Live prey, she thought, might be a better offering next time- bring the kid something that could still move, and entice the Fifth to chase after it. For now, she would have to do- and at first, Lilia thought the kid wanted to playfight- until she felt the licks and nuzzles to the corners of her lips. She chuckled. She'd eaten half the rabbit herself- as she too needed the nutrition...But the kids came first. "Oh yeah, I thee whatcha want," She said, "You want my bweakfatht, ith that it?" She teased. She bumped her nose against the pup's, and opened her mouth so that she could wretch a small pile of meat onto the ground. "Gueth I gotta share everythin' with you now, huh?" She asked. She grinned, and licked her chops. "Yuh welcome to it." |
