let it lift your feet - Val - May 11, 2023

AW, set the morning after the mireille/reverie/lestan/blossom thread <3

informing @Mireille and @Chacal of his plan, val left midmorning for ankyra. he picked his way down cobblestone slopes, following the slant of early morning light as it spilled down into the beach below in a pool of gold.

were the strangers gone? he lifted his nose to the wind, pulling various scents from the brine as he began a slow walk down the sand.

RE: let it lift your feet - Svalinn - May 19, 2023

Svalinn woke up every day in the Sound just a little more annoyed than he had been the previous day. His anxiety was gearing towards a tipping point, and though he had faced incredible loss before, the growing idea that his daughters may never turn up again was putting him on edge like never before.

On top of this, there was an infinite tide of strangers venturing into this devil’s den: giving birth here, copulating here, loitering here, washing up here. It drove him mad.

He paced more than he walked.

This morning was different in that when he saw another face, it was finally someone he knew. A sense of relief edged back the worry behind his eyes. Val, he called out, tail high and waving as he trotted up. You alright? he asked, rather than invade his newphew’s personal space to investigate that fact for himself. He had great affection for Val, but they weren’t that familiar with one another.

RE: let it lift your feet - Val - May 21, 2023

tension held his shoulders until he caught sight of svalinn and recognized him for the gold-cloaked sentinel of ankyra. his tail waved easily in answer -- this was certainly a far more welcome sight than an intruder.

i'm alright, he answered truthfully enough, not sensing svalinn had his own troubles brewing. i heard from mireille that there be interlopers down here -- they didn't give you any trouble, did they?

it seemed svalinn knew hardly more than himself. val exchanged what he knew of sapphique and in turn, svalinn gave what he knew of the strand -- eventually the two trotted down the beach to hunt, only to part ways later that afternoon with bellies full and paws worn from the road.
