It Comes and Goes - Louis - June 26, 2023

@Briar Cayde hope this works :D Lemme know if I need to fix anything!
(Also gonna forward date this a by a few days if that's good with you?)

Louis had been trekking through meadows and prairie for what seemed like ages now, though in truth it could only have been a few days. The expanse had few landmarks save the mountains at his back. He didn't mind it so much, but after a while grass all started to look the same and he was excited to take notice of a woodland on the horizon.

It was a tangled, thorny thing, even by the standards of most woods. A surplus of fruit-bearing bushes and trees urged his nose onward, though. What was a thick pelt for if not to ignore troublesome brambles? He could groom it out later.

The trees offered shade, too, a welcome relief from the unrelenting summer sun that had kept him traveling mostly by night lately. He meandered through the thicket with a curious caution, well aware the surplus of food might have attracted other creatures. Some might make prey, others were best avoided, but he found himself hoping for conversation most of all.

notice: heat

just plucking this out of necessity, briar is still welcome <3

fleetfoot fawn ran through the bramble but the hound was of fleeter feet still. yes it ran blind with panic, but shehe raced more quickly.

prey tore a path through briar - its blood emboldened the hunter, who followed it easy.

RE: It Comes and Goes - Briar Cayde - July 01, 2023

A little late here! My apologies, irl things occupied my time and my muse was set on the back burner.

Briar had settled himself at the base of a tree. Face freshly marred by various scratches and small lacerations. The staining across the white of his muzzle was more than enough explanation. Berry juices clung to his fur and he could almost claim contentment. Having filled his belly on the sweet fruits of the orchard.

Almost.

The minor lacerations across his face stung now. Itching as the worst of it grew inflamed. He ran a forepaw back and forth across his muzzle in an attempt to dislodge any remaining thorns.

The sweetness that remained on his tongue was one of the few things to keep him from souring as multiple sets of footfall reached his ears. A soft grumble rolled in his throat. Rising to his paws, he narrowed his eyes and stood tall within the thicket. Head swiveling for those that lurked about.

((No worries about the delay! :3 And welcome TK!))

Louis was a short distance off, but not so far as to miss the sound of hooves and paws in the rhythm of a hunt - moving fast through the undergrowth. He tilted his nose to the wind, but found the breeze did not drift favorably to win him any additional information.

Curious, now even moreso, he ducked into a stalk and began to head toward the sound on quiet, quick paws. Maybe they would be friendly. Maybe they'd share a meal if their hunt was successful, and he was charming.
