You've always got an answer - Fennec - July 08, 2023 tags are for reference, for @Killdeer if you want one! (No pressure, this can also be a r.o.)
Fennec had settled into a routine of sorts on the mountain. While there was still a part of her that was restless, and maybe always would be she wondered, she was at least finding a happiness that worked for her here. Her brother was the only dim spot, a shadow she didn’t want to own up to because it felt childish to let it hang over her the way it did. She’d have to get over it eventually. She was Auntie Curse to @Seal and @Orca II, watching them whenever @Meerkat needed and telling them all about cursed frogs and haunted swamps. Sometimes she spent days patrolling and hunting with her son, other days she spent with @Penn, and every night they settled down wherever they felt like sleeping. They still hadn’t put a label on it and right now, that’s what Fennec preferred. There was no way in hell she was pushing some kind of cursed mateship on him, not after the way the last two ended. It was time to take shit as it came. Today she’d asked Killer if he wanted to go with her down the mountain and check out the neighboring valley. Fennec hadn’t explored this area much and the escort was a perfect excuse to get a little time alone. She could have likely made the trip herself but it would take twice the time and be more risky than learning it with Killer there. She’d wait to see if he had anything on his mind before kicking off a conversation herself. She could think of a few things he might want to ask. RE: You've always got an answer - Killdeer - July 08, 2023 yes puhllleassseee! <3
He spent plenty of time with his mom, but something about her call today seemed different. Ears perking, Killdeer set aside his border tasks and broke into an easy trot, navigating the sloped mountain forest with a newfound ease. They'd been here for a little while now, and he was beginning to get used to the altitude and atmosphere. It was different from Mereo's canyons; odd to near the peak rather than in the trenches. It was nice to suck in a breath and not feel winded. Hey, Ma,Killer greeted Fennec, once he'd arrived to where she stood, with a smile and a nuzzle to her cheek. What's up? RE: You've always got an answer - Fennec - July 26, 2023 Fennec nipped playfully back at her son after returning his affectionate greeting, easily falling in alongside as she let him lead their way. She could more easily divide her attention now that he was here to make sure they didn’t go cliff diving. I thought you could escort your poor mother around a bit today, if you aren’t too busy. She replied with a knowing smile, clearly joking with the implication that he would be. Killer didn’t seem to ever mind giving her some of his time. And I wanted to ask what you thought of things so far. With Moonspear, and with mom.Her voice softened a bit on the second. Towhee had been a sore spot between them before, but it had been nice having her a part of their pack for as long as they had. She understood why her mom had chosen to live her life as a wanderer, hoping to split her time between as many kids as she could, but that didn’t mean Killer had accepted the notion so easily. |
