don't mind that I'm inside my head a lot - Shard - July 09, 2023

backdated to June 18th. It took a while to finish that thread c:

Shard led the fair lady @Hollis northward, to flatland sprinkled with sparse, tall trees towering above them in their every-watchful ways. But no, no - he would not stop there. For her, he would take his weary paw pads farther, nearer the mountain in the distance. Its beauty was nearly unparalleled save for the woman he brought with him. The gentleman was certain that none would find them here of all places. Or at least be so taken aback by its splendor that they wouldn't be bothered by the sight of them. Too many sights, scents, and wonders about the pretty land to be worried about what two fellow sightseers were getting up to.

He led her to the lake in the Bypass' center, a shimmering sight with perhaps the loveliest taste of water. Leaving her alone to drink her fill, he promised to return with a dinner worthy of such a lady. And luckily for him, a mighty doe at the end of her life did not give him much resistance, an understanding between them. A healthy adult wolf in his prime versus a deer weak and past her own; the encounter was only going to end in one of two ways. Shard took pride in dragging his catch back to her, presenting the doe for her inspection though he suspected it would not be long before Hollis' muzzle were covered with blood. As promised, my dear, he started.

His secret to being perfectly groomed was to always take time to groom oneself before mingling with company, and to always assume there was company to mingle with. Naturally, there was not a spot of blood or dirt upon the winter-wolf's pelt. A dinner within the loveliest area I know.

RE: don't mind that I'm inside my head a lot - Hollis - July 17, 2023

ooc: I'm so sorry about the wait.

Hollis followed the snowy wolf across lovely terrain. The young woman had traveled in her life, but she was sure her wandering paws had never brought her to this place. It was undoubtedly beautiful, the grass underfoot a lively green dotted by wildflowers, and  the sharp peaks of the mountains rising in the distance.

He took her to the side of a glimmering brook and left her there, promising to return with food. Hollis nodded hesitantly but said nothing, watching his large figure disappear into the distance before drinking her fill. Once hydrated, she felt much better, and the prospect of a good meal took the edge off her gnawing anxiety.

She sprawled out on the grass by the water, and spent a moment rolling to and fro, enjoying the soft grass as it tickled and scratched various itches along her skin. Then, she lay down, kicking her back legs out behind her and resting her head between her paws.

As promised, my dear, the deep voice woke her from her twilight nap. Hollis blinked and lifted her head, nose twitching as it filled with the scent of deer blood.

"Oh my..." she spoke, awestruck by the size of the animal he had killed. "I thought you might bring back a few rabbits, turkeys maybe. Not an entire deer." Adult ungulates were difficult to kill alone, even with the advantage of size that Shard obviously possessed.

"I am impressed," she said, smiling as she stood, then brushing her muzzle underneath his, and across the thick white fur of his neck. His scent was even more intoxicating than that of the meal he had retrieved.

She approached the carcass, but looked at him with lowered ears, showing submission. It was a signal for him to eat first, if he wished. "You have done all the work."
