[qhr] there will be no blood, - Toula - September 10, 2023 the Queen beheld the work of Eset and the others with bright eyes. it was unlike anything she had ever seen in her lifetime before. she knew that perhaps none had seen anything of its sort—Eset had a mind for the work that she did. a gift to her from the Gods, she had no doubt. she looked with approval upon it, and upon the fellahin. well done. it is... incredible!she gushed, eyes bright and gleaming. we will leave by nightfall tomorrow, she forewarned, rest. I shall pray, she breathes. Toula uses her wrist to gently dab away the wetness that had come unbidden there. it was a time of invention, of art, that the Queen ushered in. she was proud of the success. even if the thing might only last one trip, it would serve its intended purpose. and a strange wind stirs. she felt uneasy. it was, perhaps, nerves. but she knew the rightness of her prayers; the Gods would take this burden from her, at least. and so stopped at each temple and altar of Akashingo. she prayed for the wellbeing of all of Akashingo. and to each God and Goddess, she left something. keep us safe from harm. bless us this journey. let none of Akashingo come to true harm, she willed. and should any seek to place an evil eye upon it, turn Your eye upon them, Ra, and help them to understand the error of their way while you protect us. help them to learn, she urged. not even to them did she wish harm, but life and the Gods taught its (and Their!) lessons in ways that were sometimes painful. she knew it better than most, perhaps. the losses she had faced were not at all small. those once so important to her had become a memory, now... but she carried their spirit with her. she felt, once more, her father with her then for a moment. but when Toula drew before the temple of Iset, he was gone. now laying alongside the curve of the river, the Queen felt Her, too. Mother, Sister, Self. fill me with Your strength, Iset. be with me,and Toula nosed her offerings to Her. and now, here, she too rested, fasting before the journey for Her. she was filled with warmth as she closed her eyes, feeling once more at ease. yes, the Gods had taken her worries and fears with Them. in Their capable hands did she put the rest, and now she dozed with a soft smile. she did not feel so alone. how could she, with Their own gifts? some here, some to be reunited with; The Gods provided. and in her dreams, They said, Sister—We have more to give, but she understood, too, the ominous note that lingered at the end. that went unsaid. not for her to dwell on now; when she rose with Ra, they unburdened her from this knowing too—blessed her with forgetting, for now or forever. all that she knew as she prepared for the trip that day was that They were with her (with them, and that was all that mattered! |
