nazareth - Salaksartok - September 14, 2023 They were big enough to roam a little bit, with @Vairë keeping an eye out of course. On this day the sun dominated the sky and Salaksartok could be found glaring up at it, squinting, with his toes buried in the sand. The sounds of the sea didn't draw interest from the boy; they were a constant white-noise effect that had been present since his birth, and to be without them would be the more alien aspect. A creature of some sort—small, many-legged, and creeping—meandered across the grit of sand and Salaksartok took notice of the movement first, then the creature itself. He pulled his toes out of the sand and began to stalk with his head down. His tail gave an inquisitive twitch each time the centipede changed direction. At one point he got close enough to sniff at it (it smelled like sour dirt) and one of his whiskers touched one of its appendages, which prompted an immediate twist and run from the creature. Salaksartok was enthralled! His nose wriggled. He dropped in to a play-bow and babbled some sounds at it, then lunged (purposefully short—the way all puppies show curiosity and wariness, and play, in a mess of stuttered movements). The bug rounded in another direction and Salaksartok yipped sharply, and stamped the sand (but missed the creature) and he watched it seek solace among some stones, among which it was lost. He stomped a few more times and scratched the sand until the dry top layer was gone, and his claws sank in to wetness, and he huffed a few frustrated sounds when the bug did not reappear. |
