she'd thought @Rashepses the beast's leader, and had done well to keep her sights locked upon him when she observed the gathering of wolves.
but then she arrived, and sahara abandoned all thought that the midnight hellhound clutched the power of the furred invaders. the way the others doted on her, the way they bowed. the fawn beauty was nothing less than the leading light.
a pretty conquerer of sun and sand.
she kept her focus set to @Toula now, round eyes radiant with undisturbed interest.

Meridian approached, carrying a plump rodent in her mouth. This place had been claimed by the likes of Akashingo, but it bothered her not. Noticing the owl, she put the mouse down, placing a paw firmly over it. The priestess let out a single yip to alert the own. Perhaps she could hire a spy?

head turned on a swivel at the summon, her focus momentarily abandoned.
coyote called for her now, and sahara sought to entertain the lamb among wolves.
she neglected her perch to glide near to the furred beast, legs landing a distance off from where coyote and mouse remain.
beak remained pinched shut, but eyes demanded answers.

Meridian didn't lunge to capture the owl as it landed closer. Instead, she motioned to the mouse with her pointed snout, still held firmly under her paw. There was information to be gained here possibly. And perhaps a feathered messenger? The priestess started with a usual greeting. The sun shines upon you, owl? A gesture of goodwill, back at her home.

a greeting is offered and ignored. she would not waste the breath in her lungs on simple formalities. not for these beasts.
she gave a silent blink as her focus shifted to the prize hidden beneath the sand-devil's paw.
"what is it you want?" came her bark of fury.
each moment lost here was one taken away from the schemes she frantically plotted in her mind. too many bodies to watch, too many moves to make at once.

Disgrace! It was a custom to return the greeting, in her homeland. Meridian wanted to make the fiery owl repent. With a sly smirk, she looked the owl dead in the eye. I guess you don't want the vole. The priestess swallowed the morsel, licking her lips as if to show the owl what a loser it was. The coyote had no reason to deal with disprespectful creatures.
