you booked the night train for a reason - Aminthe - September 25, 2023

She was torn up. Large gashes made by large claws stretched across her shoulder. Teeth marks littered the same leg where they left deep punctures that had started to fester. The wounds on her shoulder looked no better. A fever had set in already, making her a little dizzy, chills periodically running through her body. She needed help. She needed somewhere to rest and get better before she made her way home. The fight with the cougar was yet another setback. If you could even call it a fight. She had gotten her ass beat and took off, not slowing until she couldn't physically run anymore. Luckily the cougar had lost interest at some point.

She stopped just outside the borders and slumped into a sitting position. It was getting hard to hold her head up but she needed to be able to have a conversation. Who knew if this pack would help her? She would be a burden long before she could be of help in any way. Many packs would have young this time of year. They needed hunters and warriors to protect their borders. Not someone who be a drain on their resources. She just had to hope that they would help her anyway.

So she tilted her head back and howled, calling for whoever was nearby.

RE: you booked the night train for a reason - RIP Ash Star - September 26, 2023

It was the smell of blood that alerted her first. So she stopped to gather herbs that she would need, reeds and cobwebs for blood loss.

Then the howl came, requesting aid. She wouldn't allow a pained wolf on her watch no sir.

She arrived as she always did with haughty air and sharp stare. There was much to be done and she tsked. As she lay the items down.

picking fights with felines?

Ash sniffed. and infected to boot. You are in a sorry state. Lets get you fixed up shall we? Story time can wait. May i approach?

RE: you booked the night train for a reason - Aminthe - September 26, 2023

Aminthe huffed, a pained smiled curving her lips. Not by choice, but yes, a cougar, she offered. She figured that would be enough information for the suspected healer. She knew their familiar smell of plants and earth; it reminded her of home, of her mother, and made her heart ache. But she was also relieved that the one to find her on the borders was the one who could help her.

The signs of infection were there and the woman's skilled eyes found them right away. Even better was that she wanted to help. She asked to approach and Aminthe nodded. Yes, please. I appreciate your help. She certainly wasn't obliged to help a stranger on her borders, yet here she was, jumping in, no questions asked. The seastar didn't think she knew how to properly express her gratitude.

RE: you booked the night train for a reason - RIP Ash Star - September 27, 2023

Ash Paw huffed. Cats are always showing up where they aren't wanted and they're just nasty, for no reason. Mean things.

Though, her tiny pack was imploding in upon itself. It didn't show in her gaze or her words. No this was something she could do, could fix. This is why she preferred healing to words. She always felt inadequate.

Ash Paw moved nearer and looked the girl over. Scour marks along her sides, puffy, raised,  red and pus crusted. Deep wounds in her leg. This was going to hurt.

Alright then. I'm gonna get some water. You may want to find a stick to bite. I'm going to need to clean these and it will hurt.

Ash pulled some of the softest reeds from her pile and went to the nearby river anxious to clean them. Soaking them she returned quickly. She'd do what she could and then the girl would need rest.

RE: you booked the night train for a reason - Aminthe - September 28, 2023

She had to agree with the woman's words. This cat had come out of nowhere and just attacked her. Of course, Aminthe had probably been in its territory but she would have gladly gotten out of there with some warning. Unfortunately, there had been none, or not any that she had picked up on.

The healer said she needed to get some water to clean her wounds. She advised Aminthe to find a stick to bite down on for the pain, but she could hardly imagine the wounds being more painful than they were now.

When she returned, Aminthe braced herself for the pain. She knew it was necessary and she could get through it. I'm Aminthe by the way, she offered. I really appreciate your help. Once I'm able, please let me help with the hunting. Or I can help with gathering more plants. She had to repay them somehow.

Ash Paw had never met anyone who'd been attacked by a cat that had preyed on the cat themselves. It was always the feline.

My name is Ash Paw i am Star or Alphess of riverclan beside my friend crowfeather. I would say well met, but i imagine you dont feel well.

Ash began to clean the wounds tugging some of the pus filled fur. She felt bad for, but it was important to completely cleanse.

She followed that with Yarrow sparingly and cobwebs to bind.

We can always use hunters and gatherers.

RE: you booked the night train for a reason - Aminthe - September 29, 2023

Aminthe nodded. She didn't feel well at all. Her whole body ached, which only added to how much her wounds hurt. She was tired and nauseous and all she wanted to do was pass out so that she wouldn't have to feel any of it anymore. But she was lucky to have not only been met by a healer but also an alpha. No need for two separate conversations.

Ash Paw started to clean her wounds and Aminthe closed her eyes, wincing from the pain. She knew it was necessary, though, so she tried to remain quiet; complaining just seemed rude. She thought the stick idea sounded good right about now, but she didn't want to interrupt the healer's work. So she remained still and quiet, telling herself that it would be over soon and then she could rest.

The alphess said they could always use hunters and gatherers. I've been on my own for a while. It will be nice to hunt for more than just myself, the seastar explained. She looked down at what Ash Paw was doing. Maybe you can teach me more about healing? I'd like to learn and help. She wished she had paid more attention to her mother when she was younger, but she could make up for that now.

RE: you booked the night train for a reason - RIP Ash Star - September 30, 2023

Ash Paw worried that thecgirl had gotten the infection inside her. She would need to watch her closely. Though she did offer bitter herb to help with inside infection.

I'm sorry to hurt you. she said quietly as she finished up. The winc8ng had been hard to witness, but she had been as gwntle as she could.

You would like a place in Riverclan? I can teach you what i know.

RE: you booked the night train for a reason - Aminthe - September 30, 2023

Aminthe shook her head at the apology. It's not your fault, she assured the other woman. The wounds needed to be cleaned and the pain was unavoidable.

Yes I would love a place here. She'd been on her own for a while and having a pack again would be nice. She was never meant to be alone, and she found out quickly how much she hated it. Once she was better, she would make a trip home to let them know she was okay. She missed her mothers and siblings but she knew she would see them soon.

RE: you booked the night train for a reason - RIP Ash Star - September 30, 2023

Ash Paw was not a wolf that showed her care outward, but she did care deeply. Especially about healing.

Then welcome to Riverclan. I'll get you settled and you reat for a few days.

Ash Paw missed her family but all that was left now was Gunnar and she would lose him soon too. Ecen her children born of her had left her.

RE: you booked the night train for a reason - Aminthe - September 30, 2023

Thank you. For everything Aminthe offered, getting to her feet, the movement making her wince a little. She was looking forward to resting.

She would follow Ash Paw over the borders when it was okay to move. She was curious about the territory, but exploring it would have to wait until she felt better.

thank you for the thread hela

Ash would lead. Find a place for her to rest. Make sure she left herbs and check in. At least 3 days she would need supervised. Then ash thought she'd be well enough to be on her own again in the lands.
