satkagillak ⨻ - Kukutux - October 05, 2023 RE: satkagillak ⨻ - Vairë - October 05, 2023 He was there one moment and, ever so slowly, Vairë began to see less and less of @Rhaegal . Until, one day, he was gone. She waited for him, as she always did, but he never showed. Her worry began as a sharp wiggle in her stomach, but grew and grew as their children did. Her children. Spirits, would they ever know the face of their father? Vairë hoped so. She would welcome him, kiss his face, and not ask where he had gone. She would ask him what he had seen, ask him what he knew. But she did not see him. And she wept bitterly into her own arms. She was outside the den, letting the children play in the sunshine before it went away for the season, when her mother’s voice drifted across the bay. Her breath hitched. Anaa? She called to the older woman, sitting up from the flat rock she was laying on to look for the white coat she knew so well. RE: satkagillak ⨻ - Kukutux - October 06, 2023 vairë greeted her. rhaegal was not here. kukutux looked worriedly toward her daughter, then more warmly toward her grandchildren.
the hours of light were shorter now, were less. her jadestone eyes were now upon the younger woman once more, but she did not speak, only waited to hear. RE: satkagillak ⨻ - Vairë - October 06, 2023 She smiled at her mother when she approached, trying desperately to have it appear she had it all together. Even when she didn’t. I have not seen Rhaegal for…a small time. Lestan and Reverie left with their daughter.Vairë tried to have faith they would return. She tried and tried and tried, but even her wellspring of patience, of hope was leaking. She had to think for more than just herself now. Her children most of all. Saltshore is just me. And the children. RE: satkagillak ⨻ - Kukutux - October 06, 2023 kukutux was still, those words weighing upon her mind.
she looked toward the young ones, who did not know her quite as well as she might have liked. and her eyes were upon the other woman once more. "come home, doe-girl." she would not leave vairë here alone, not with the winds coming colder and snows soon to blow. when rhaegal returned, he would know his family had returned to their people's village. RE: satkagillak ⨻ - Vairë - October 06, 2023 Her lip quivered, and she looked away from Kukutux in shame. I will need to tell the children. She murmured, sliding off the rock she was sat upon and watching them tumble over each other. Then, she looked to Kukutux. But we will come. There was no other choice. Nothing to be done. Vairë alone could not feed and care for three young children when the snows blew in cold across the bay. To them she went, gently calling them to her. Bold @Salaksartok , impish @Ipiktok , shy @Nasamiituuq . Come, children. I must tell you something. RE: satkagillak ⨻ - Kukutux - October 06, 2023 skip me for now! <3
moonwoman softly looked toward her daughter.
saltshore would always be this place. the sea would always be inlaid upon the veins of her children, as she and rhaegal had intended. now she was quiet, her jadestone eyes warm on her descendants. RE: satkagillak ⨻ - Ipiktok - October 08, 2023 Though Ipiktok was supposed to be fully weaned, he often stuck close to Mother and attempted to latch. He was growing steadily from a shapeless potato to a stocky and rambunctious child, needle-shaped puppy teeth and all. When Vaire called, Ipiktok emerged from the den. He recognized Grandmother and waddled over to lick her jowls, hungry and unaware a serious conversation was taking place. |
