Friends with the Enemy - Saber - November 14, 2014

◆Intended for @Scimitar however, and other SC members are welcome who know the history of Sunspire and Swiftcurrent rivalry, and are willing to inform Saber about it. W_^V ◆

Saber naturally fell into the rhythm of his duties, patrolling borderlines, blending his scent with that of his brothers flourishing pack, hunting, and easily filling most of the caches he came across with that of small or medium sized game. It was a life he had been fond of, the simplicity taking the focus in his mind, and allowing the tedious tasks to be conquered with fluidity.
However, that did not mean the Frostfur forgot.

If anything, it was quite the contrary. Saber continued his train of thought, and at some interval or another, he desired the truth. Not only that, he did wish to befriend the fae he had met earlier, but couldn't bear the thought of his brother finding he had been having a cup of tea with the enemy.
What had happened within the time he was not here?

At the base of Duck Lake, he sat, the tawny handsome Del Monte mix staring into the crystalline waters, and wondering his brother's activities.

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Bazi - November 18, 2014

I am making some assumptions about Scimitar allowing Bazi to come back home, so this is going to be a SUPER VAGUE post. :)

And to think - once upon a time, not so very long ago, this had been her kingdom.

Nothing had changed - not really. She knew that. A fresh slew of wolves had pledged themselves to the Creek, but their scents were set against a familiar background of reedy grass and cold water. Swiftcurrent smells. Home smells. And yet it felt as though an entire millennium had passed by.

Starting at the bottom was both refreshing and frightening. As soon as she was alone, Bazi moved through the territory as though walking through a dream. What was she supposed to do now? Eat, sleep - was that Paarthurnax over there, or was she just imagining things? The winter-white wolf gave her head a vigorous shake and turned away, loping stiffly towards the edge of their claim and onward to Duck Lake.

There was a wolf there, facing away from her. A familiar-looking wolf. Bazi slowed, eyeing the stranger's tawny back. Swiftcurrent, or foe? Could she outrun him? Travel-weary and gaunt as she was beneath her downy coat, Bazi seriously doubted it. "Hello?" the girl called hoarsely, deciding to take her chances.

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Saber - November 19, 2014

◆my gawd thank you for joining. ♡◆

"Hello?"

A voice, one scratchy enough to make the FrostFur clear his own larynx before turning to see a slightly disheveled looking bright palen fae..
Possible Loner?
He did not recognize the female from his own standpoint, and assumed what he could without making an ass of himself.

Glaciers peered unflinching at the femora, as he held his footing.

"Do you know what land you stand close to, miss?", the handsome male called out to her, while attempting to lessen the effort she put on her voice by closing a pace more of the distance between the two.

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Bazi - November 20, 2014

"Do you know what land you stand close to, miss?"

Bazi gave him a peculiar look, but held back on snide remarks - this wolf did not know here, and whilst she may have been the Creek's Alpha once upon a time, that was no longer the case. It irked the girl that had she not returned, her legacy would have been but a breath in the wind. If she wanted to be remembered, she needed to put down roots.

"Yes," she told him, polite but still a little curt, "I live here. I've been away." Scimitar's brother moved closer under Bazi's curious stare. She remained standing, but the tension in her shoulders slackened visibly. "Who're you?"

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Saber - December 01, 2014

◆forgive me for such massive lengths of time that this thread has been lonely. ◆

"Saber FrostFur. "

Saber up-downed the femme with his frozen stare once more before lowering his silken rear to the ground.
She seemed quite regal, even in her mangy state, and the FrostFur held respect for those who respected themselves.
Yet he did not hear mentioning of a returning of a SwiftCreeker, let alone any sort of possible description of one.
So Saber came up empty handed.
Damn. Still back in square one.

"Name please, miss?" softly came the gentle yet alert inquiry.

As much as it would be a kindly gesture to just let her waltz herself into pack lands, Saber knew that the decision would also be a foolish one.
He was nowhere near foolish.

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Bazi - December 04, 2014

Frostfur rang a bell, but she couldn't figure out why. Surnames weren't particularly important to her. Swiftcurrent Creek was her surname - and whatever it morphed into, wherever it moved, she would take that name.

"It's Bazi," she replied, putting emphasis on the name as though she hoped it would jog his memory. Had no-one spoken of her in her absence? The thought made Bazi feel desperately unimportant - that her short stint as Alpha, during a particularly difficult time, was nothing but dust in the wind.

Swiftcurrent Creek needed a chronicler.

When Saber sat, Bazi did too, studying him intently. "I was Alpha here, after Fox. I left to visit friends at the Glacier in the north.. and sort of fell down a whole. I broke my leg, nearly died..it was awful," she lamented, forgetting that this was for all intents and purposes a complete stranger. With a heavily dramatized sigh and a look at the floor, she added, "I don't think I'm particularly popular with certain wolves right now." No need to fill this guy in on what she had put the Alpha through by departing - it made her look... bad, to say the least, even though the fall wasn't her fault.

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Saber - December 04, 2014

It was within that moment, that Saber knew he could find the past from the history of this femalia, just by asking for details. The man wasnt using her, in any harmful way, so he disregarded the little sliver of guilt that attempted to slice its way to his heart.
Hell, if you have a question on something, you ask. Just the way the world works.

And considering it looked like the she wolf had been through hell and back, he could give the girl some slack. After all, who was he to interrogate, especially after his short time interaction with his beloved sibling?

"I respect you for your journey, Bazi. Forgive me for not being able to just allow a stranger within the borders, but it's duty. I'll take any consequences that my brother places on my ass, for you, but can you do me a favor?"

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Bazi - December 04, 2014

Strange. Who was this wolf to call her a stranger?

Of course, he had now way of knowing. Bazi knew that, and it kept her mouth shut, but internally she was muttering indignantly to herself. Until she heard brother that is.

"Wait.." Her face became one of utter bewilderment, wide-eyed and slack-jawed. "What do you mean, brother? Scimitar is your brother?"

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Saber - December 04, 2014

Wow, was she blind? Though he did not look like an exact copy of him, the FrostFur knew their pelts had quite a ravishing design scheme, , and not only that, the same blood ran through their DeMonte-fixed veins. Of course, he was his brother. And the fact that she bombarded through his question with one of her own iced over the calm seas he once sailed on.

Frosty irises narrowed at the fae, and with a time of wariness, he replied,

"Yea, we're brothers. Why? "

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Bazi - December 05, 2014

"Oh."

Kaskara, Saber, and Scimitar. Bazi continued to stare for a good few seconds - it was obvious now. They looked almost identical.. but then, most wolves of the Arctic subspecies looked like family, and it hadn't twigged in her mind that Saber was the mirror image of his brother.

Why was she even surprised? Families were re-united all the time - and split apart. "No. Sorry. I just.. didn't know he had one," she recovered, giving her dainty head a little shake. Just like Saber had no idea who she was, and what she had one started to mean to Scimitar (the Stoic and Silent). "What was the favour?"

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Saber - December 05, 2014

The apology only melted a few inches of ice, but Saber put in an effort to keep the rest at bay.
At least she apologized. Manners were significant to him.

"Can you tell me what went down between the Sunspire pack, and us? "

Saber included the 'us' in the sentence to give the hellion a feel of inclusion in the matter, and swing how she was supposedly a member of the Creek before he, and if what she spoke was true, she would know a piece of history, wouldn't she?

With opened ears, the man listened for her reply, his creamy paws stiff and neutral at such such patient image.

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Bazi - December 05, 2014

Bazi hesitated for a moment, ears swiveling as though searching for some excuse to get out of telling the story. It reminded the girl of poor decisions and angry feelings, and she was altogether too exhausted to delve into the past. But she stayed, and she told the story.

"It's.. quite a long story, but sure. A wolf came to us, a long time ago now.. his name was Ferdie von Pelt. Fox was leader at the time - she was my age, nicknamed 'firecracker' for very good reason. Anyway, Ferdie was pleasant enough, but he had some some 'issues' -" Bazi rolled her eyes. "- of undetermined origin. I don't know if he was diseased, or just a bit melodramatic. He didn't really fit in. One day, his depression - or whatever it was - got the better of him.. and he lashed out at one of our fellows. A wolf named Jace intervened, they had a fierce battle, I - oh, I was Beta at the time - sent them to Fox to get the matter cleared up. She booted Jace and Ferdie out. Make of that what you will.. Jace was a good wolf and a loss to the Creek, but Ferdie was volatile."

Bazi cleared her throat.

"Ferdie set up the Sunspire pack. It takes a while to get there, but not nearly long enough. Their presence made Fox nervous, and there were a number of 'incidents' that led to Fox and a couple of our younger wolves - Leaf and Magpie, I think - being capture and held hostage when they tried to confront the Sunspire - with Fox at the helm. They weren't harmed, but.. it was a blow to the Creek. Fox fled - I sought her out, we fought, and I took over command of the Creek. The Sunspire and the Creek agreed on a truce.. and here we are. To my knowledge, they haven't caused any more trouble - I don't even know if Ferdie is still their Alpha. Why do you ask?"

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Saber - December 05, 2014

As if they were radars, his ears kept their mark on the snow fae, right up until the moment her story ended.

Very much so satisfied with her answer, the sandy ash man nodded. He knew such value would reign with appraisal in Rain's eyes, and just having such brought him closer to having another worthwile chat with the beauty.

"I needed to catch up on pack history, especially considering my newness to the Creek, I didn't want to have anything left out of my knowledge on the family. Also, there is a Sunspire member who came to me, also in the same shoes as I. I wanted to clear up anything that would give me any reason to kill her, because she's undeserving of such. "

A dipped head inclined to the artic girl, and with the stressed burden now off of his broad shoulders, Saber smiled a bit to her.

"Thank you, Bazi. As little as I know about you, I do hope we become friends. "

And after a pause,

"Welcome home."

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Bazi - December 05, 2014

Her wealth of Creek knowledge seemed to appease Saber, and as his opinion of her climbed a little further out of the trench she had pushed it into. She smiled at him, tail waving gently behind her. "There are only a few of us left over from when the Sunspire was an issue. Tell her to steer clear of the pack's borders like she would around any other claimed territory. There are no natural boundaries, so traditionally we've expected non-members to give us a slightly wider berth.. tell her that. Just to be sure."

Welcome home. It warmed her heart to hear it. "Thanks. Me too. It was foolish of me to leave in the first place, so I'm.. relieved, to be welcomed back."

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Saber - December 05, 2014

◆my gawd, thank you for doing this thread. I've been waiting for this info for such a long time. Ready to wrap? ◆

The relation between the two lupines sprouted from the cold earth that it was previously borne, and Saber continued his tone, though it softened considerably at her smile. As he spike, he reminded himself to tell the fair Rain how her presence may not be as civil as their encounter had been.

"I will tell her off the restrictions. And ensure she follows by them. "

With a curt nod, he sealed the promise.

"Your journey must leave you tired. Come, we'll see what we can do about your hunger, thirst, and shelter. I'm sure Scim has your den uninhabited. And I'm sure he'll forgive your absence, just as readily. "

Saber stood and turned his frame, the gentle breeze rifling his gorgeous pelt. His head was inclined in her direction, posture suggesting a gentlemanly 'ladies first' manner, as he waited her trek within the borders.

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Bazi - December 05, 2014

No problem! I enjoyed it. :D I made an OOC assumption at the end about the two of them turning for home, I can edit the ending if you PM me.

"Your journey must leave you tired. Come, we'll see what we can do about your hunger, thirst, and shelter. I'm sure Scim has your den uninhabited. And I'm sure he'll forgive your absence, just as readily."

Bazi's throat hitched in her throat. Kaskara had said something similar, which gave the girl hope that maybe, maybe.. she had an opportunity to make amends for her mistakes. She smiled graciously at him, suddenly all too aware of her ragged appearance, and stood up to follow him.

"I took the Sveijarn family's old den in the south-west.. it's empty now, and big. I thought I'd ask Paarthurnax to share it with me. Maybe.. you're walking in that direction?"

The two Swiftcurrent wolves turned towards home.

RE: Friends with the Enemy - Saber - December 05, 2014

◆last post from meh. I just finished reading the thread Between you and Scim. The ending is perfect. Not an issue at all. We're gonna have to get these two together again. :}◆

As though she were a psychic, she read his mind. He had actually planned to head in that very direction, and a chuckle slipped through his maw. A graceful coat shake, and return at attention.

"Believe it or not, I was actually gonna take you in that precise location. Hopefully I'd catch Scim, but he might catch you before I get to him, so make yourself comfortable, eh?"

Only after did she elegantly pad him, did the 3 year old take another glance about the pair, before he escorted the Artic into their home.
