she's paler than the moon - Argent - October 20, 2023

AW. Feel free to assume what the noise might be, if you want!

Heavy paws skirted the lake’s edge—glowing in red, orange and gold as the reflection of the nearby trees offered an unbroken mirror. It seemed only logical he sought the body of water to begin his search for his bride price.

Icy eyes scanned the crystal waters, though it was a low wailing sound in the distance that gave him pause, stirring his muscles to tense, his thoughts to pause as he glanced upward. It was a cry of mourning—haunting in its persistence, hollow with an echo.

It gave the man a sense of unease as he stood there, despite the sun that filtered past the white clouds. Reminding him that his family wait for him at Moonspear—and he was here, a further distance from them than he cared to be.

Determination set him prowling once more. Mud and dead grass clung to the damp fur of his legs, and he trained his muzzle downward, seeking to scent any trace of otters—determined to not just find the three he required to fulfill the price—but to find ones worthy of his bride.

Dwin had come to the lake-shores with less determination to achieve anything. Quite the contrary. Doing nothing felt just the greatest gift the world could offer. Funny, how you change as you age, because as a young kid with mind that was whizzing with ideas and all-important stuff needed to do, threatening with boredom was the ultimate punishment. Now, however, it was nice to let the world rest time from time and have her little bouts of freedom in the meanwhile.

It was unusual to catch sight of a Moonspear wolf so close to caldera's hunting grounds. Dwin had often caught scent of the pack, when Frolic had been out to meet her friend Seal, but the rest of the family or village - how they themselves called - rarely if ever came this far down. She observed the man in action for while (after all, no greater pleasure in the world as to watch other people working) and then approached him, making her presence known with a teasing question and a sly smile: "Looking for burried treasure? 'cause the ghoul howling earlier did not sound happy about you being here."
