cut to the chase - RIP Basilie - November 15, 2014

Anyone! Maybe a healer?

The earth-toned creature wove through the dogwoods with the full intention of finding a meal. Her attention was rapt - her eyes tracing along the thin lines of the trees while she navigated betwixt them. There was a flash of movement to Basilie's immediate right, and so she dove towards it; carving a path through the frosted autumn leaves and listening to their crunch. The sound reminded her of the crunch of bone. This in turn reminded her of the damage she had been dealt, the wound on her shoulder that throbbed despite her insistence to ignore it; thus the creature she chased (whatever it was) vanished from her reach. Basilie gave pause then, and stood to listen to the forest. There was nothing but the soft sound of the canopies being tousled by the wind... And the sharp pain of her ripped shoulder.

◆Definitely trying to get this healer trade, May I?◆

Ashton knew he was running out of shrooms. That was a no no to him. He had to search low for the little umbrellas, and occasional oddities.
Those were the special ones.
And he knew he had to travel through the woods to get to the cave that held the birth place of the last stash he got.

The momenr he stepped through the familiar trees, he smelled it.
Blood.
and saw the red tinged misty air that led a track.
The golden hippie followed it, and found himself staring at a multihued and amber eyed girl.
Pretty little (not little, oh god not little) girl, she was.
Even with a sliced and diced shoulder.

"Hey, there, dudette,"

Emeralds gave her a friendly look, while body posture suggested 'friendship please dont kill me'.

"Need any help?"

omg yessss i love how ridiculous ashton is

There was next to no sound of any consequence around her. Whatever she had been pursuing, it had escaped, leaving her alone and frustrated. Basilie turned to get a look at her shoulder - and she managed a brief side-eye glance before noticing movement again. The stranger approached her without much care; he was quick, and his speed was what made her nervous. Even though the words spoken by the stranger appeared relaxed, Basilie could not take any chances - she was injured after all, and in her weakened state she could be a target.

Need any help? The stranger's voice chimed. Basilie wasn't accustomed to this behavior. So far she'd encountered a myriad of aggressors, but only one friendly face - the silver woman, Osprey. As an act of caution Basilie wheeled around and inspected him, taking small breaths of the air around him but... Finding no identifying scents. He smelled woody, and held many wolf scents upon himself which implied pack.

I don't. She responded. With the refusal she turned as if to depart, but the action wrenched her shoulder in a way that made her wince and stumble; clearly she was lying, but at the same time she did not want any help. Especially from a foreigner. Well... Maybe I do.

◆he loves ya too, Java. ♡ ◆

Ashton was baffled by the girl's attempt to walk off her shoulder, but was was unsurpised (bruh, thats not even a word) by Mother Nature promptly commiting to changing the girl's mind.

"Well, sweets, good thing I'm a good dude, eh?"

A jovial swish of his thick blond banner showed his issue of 'yea, still not tryin ta kill ya'.
Tip toe trotting to her, the doc kept his eyes on her shoulder, noticing the tear, the ligaments, the twitches, everything about the wound, making analytical notes on the damage done to the chick's limb.

"Seems like nerve damage, a bit more serious, a bit of shredded muscle perhaps? Broken veins, though not any sort of artery destruction. Seems like an easy patch up, darlin'."

The teen sat on his muscled little rump, and smiled a charming little flash of teeth at the agouti beauty.

"Names Ashton. Or just Ash. Whichever ya like best. Soon to be Doctor of RedHawk Caldera. Not too far from here, in all truth, and with the medial severity of ya, it might not be all that hardcore of a parkour, if you get an extra pair of paws ta get ya there. "

RE: cut to the chase - RIP Basilie - November 15, 2014

Was there something about her that invited strange young men in to her company? This was the strangest yet - even if he held lofty intentions. No sooner had she acquiesced to his offer of help did he approach, inspecting the torn flesh of her shoulder. The fur was missing there, having been chomped at and pulled out by her assailant, and aside from some early evidence of clotting, it was still open to the wind. A mixture of blood and... Some sort of clear, sticky fluid, had collected upon the fur surrounding it.

He seemed to take this all in without batting an eye. A young medic? How curious.

Names Ashton. Or just Ash. Whichever ya like best. She listened as he introduced himself, but did not feel inclined to say her own name yet. A brief glance at his golden face was all she granted him. Soon to be Doctor of Redhawk Caldera. Not too far from here, in all truth, and with the medial severity of ya, it might not be all that hardcore of a parkour, if you get an extra pair of paws ta get ya there. Was he... Speaking in tongues?

Maybe she had become feverish. It had been a couple of days since the fight, and Basilie did not know of any do-it-yourself remedies, so the chasm in her shoulder had been left unattended. Yes, that's it, you've gone mad. Just a little mad. As the girl thought this, she huffed to herself... And then finally spoke.

I don't need a history lesson, she all but snapped, If you can help me, help me. Just hurry it up.

RE: cut to the chase - Ashton - November 15, 2014

"Well, there's a catch, babe. You got the beginnings of an infection in your shoulder there, and the meds I got for that are stored in my operating room back at the Cal. The only things that are mainly here are quick little tids and tats, things that'll clean most of the nasty little buggers out of your shoulder, but most likely can't stop the infection. "

Ashton knew pain could make a fellow wolf a bit cranky, so he didnt take the angry response to heart.
Givin' the cutie the benifit of the doubt, eh, Ash?
More than most deserve, yea. Yea I am.

"Im sure the two top pops up at the Dera won't let me just waltz an injured chick through their borders, no matter how beautiful she is. And im sure you know yourself, thats a no no in any wolf's Rule Book of Packs for Dummies. So that leads me to ask,..."

Ashton cleared his throat, flicking his golden ears forward, to make sure he gabe the gal all the attention she deserved.

"If you don't have a home, RedHawk has got a nice spot for ya. Good place, good food, good family. If anything, relaxing is the most common thing there, and drama isn't common at a spot like that. From my experience with em, they're as good as it gets. And if you join, you got not only a damn sure better chance of survival away from random dudes and fights with those random dudes, or dudettes, whichever, but ya got me to rad up that rip for ya. "

RE: cut to the chase - RIP Basilie - November 15, 2014

She didn't know what he was saying, and wasn't about to ask for a repeat to clarify; so as the boy continued to talk her ear off, Basilie grew impatient. He seemed to want her to go with him to a place called the caldera - and she assumed this was his pack. If it meant he'd shut his mouth, then sure.

Good place, good food, good family. If anything, relaxing is the most common thing there, and drama isn't common at a spot like that. From my experience with em, they're as good as it gets.

Alright, alright, I'll go!

--better chance of survival away from random dudes and fights with those random dudes, or dudettes, whichever, but ya got me to rad up that rip for ya.

I said I'd go! She turned and attempted to snap at him, to make him listen instead of rant and rave about his glorious little caldera place. Her teeth caught the light, but it was a very quick moment, for she was gritting her teeth in the next one - a wave of pain radiating from her shoulder. If it stops your talking I'll go with you - but I tell you now, I will not be staying long.

She had to find Hadrian. There was no time to be making nice with the locals.

RE: cut to the chase - Ashton - November 15, 2014

This girl.

The sharp glint of white pierced the air, and the soft and smooth dandelion shaded ruff on the spine of the hippie rose in respose to the threat, just ironically, Ashton wasn't scared.
Hell, why should he be? She was mauled. How the hell could she beat him?

His own cloud colored ivories glistened in the light of between the two lupines, and though sitting there as unmoving as a stone, his once forward ears flicked to face behind him, not folding against his crown, and he shut his emeralds off from the world, from the girl, and from her damn tantrum.
Had he just shown..irritation?
Ashton, are you breaking?
Remember, bro. Patience. As a doc, ya gotta have that there.
When you become a doctor, that is.

"Alright, sweets. You're gonna have to chillax a hell of a lot more than snapping ya pretty little teeths in my face. After all, helpin a grouch ain't gonna help me, nor ya shoulder."

His lids lifted, and a cool glint of indifference gleamed in them, showing he had the balls enough to walk away and leave the cutie here to die of gangrene, if she decided that continuing her current actions was smarter than taking his advice.

After a beat of tense silence, his scruff lowered a slight inch, though kept up a bit, indicating he was still a slice of 'screw it' if need be.

"...And if I'm gonna trust you to walk through pack borders, it's for permanent good, not just a 'quickie fixie me uppie so I'm not a pathetic wad of fur, so I can scadaddle'. Either ya prove your loyalty, and longevity, or I toss you a few leaves of surviving basil, a wad of milkweed, a few webs, and leave you to figure out this shit on your own, toots."

RE: cut to the chase - RIP Basilie - November 15, 2014

So in order to get the aid she needed, this vital thing that would keep her going towards the completion of her mission, she had to join a pack of foreigners? The girl scoffed at the very idea. But... If it was the only way, then, what choice did she really have? Basilie was already plotting a way to get out of this arrangement.

She could linger long enough for her shoulder to repair itself, even just a little, and then run. Wait for the confirmation that she wasn't infected with anything, and then abandon ship. It would only be temporary, no matter what this blathering fool said; nobody could stop her from doing as she pleased.

So, play nice.

Alright. The girl breathed the words, her head drooping slightly from feigned exhaustion - well, she was tired, but this little bit was an act. Show the good old doctor that he's won, that his terms are agreed to, and you'll get all fixed up in no time at all. Which way is this caldera of yours?

Basilie knew how to bide her time - she'd been doing it all her life.

RE: cut to the chase - Ashton - November 15, 2014

◆fade for us, will ya, Java? I gotta water the horses for the night. But believe me, I will definitely be back for ya. Excellent threadage. ☆◆

Holy hell of Santa, had he actually won?
He owed himself a shroom of celebration, later.
Damn right, he does.

Thinking he was a bit triumphant, Ashton relaxed, though the jovial voice he once kept as a default altered to one of untrusting wariness.
He stood to his fours, and without delay, he stood next to the previously snappy babe, offering her a golden shoulder to lean on, a little reward for her (believed though naïvity) defeat.

And for once, the teen kept a grim look on his face, silence on his tongue, and a hesitant pace in his steps, all the way back to the Caldera.

RE: cut to the chase - RIP Basilie - November 15, 2014

Fade!

He didn't say another word - thank the gods - but came close to intercept her leaning body. It was helpful of him to support her on the hike back. Basilie would never have admitted this, though, as she was far too proud. With the strange golden boy as her guide, the two wolves made their way towards the caldera land outskirts. Even if Basilie had no intention of staying, simply knowing that there was a pack nearby with a decent healer was of great importance.
