children of the stones - Taktuq - November 21, 2023

@Kristjan @Sven @Ujurak ( Also @Astrid for reference, though I know you're on break! <3) I'll post a new round in a couple days! Also, if anyone else from the pack wants to join in for a little history lesson, please feel free to hop in! <3

Grief still hung around Kvarsheim like a threadworn shawl.

Taktuq had stepped down from leadership on Tauris' advice. Take time for the children. Breathe. Grieve. It was wisdom beyond her years; but then, it seemed they both often thought in like manner. Taktuq had often wondered what life might have been like if she'd had a sister to share joy and sorrow with. With Tauris, she realized she finally knew.

Today she breathed and grieved by shepherding her children to herself and leading them up to Stone Circle. She had encouraged each one to bring a flower or a token to lay on Gunnar's grave. A way of speaking, without words, if they did not have words to give.

What do you think these Stones mean? she broke the silence as she looked upon the Circle from the centre where they stood. She knew many told their own tales about this place, but few held the memory of what they were before Kvarsheim, what they would always be. Yet she stood as the keeper of memories shared between Easthollow and Kvarsheim. Memories she would ensure would never be forgotten.

RE: children of the stones - Ujurak - November 23, 2023

At his mother's behest, Ujurak combed the yellowed and dried highland grasses in search of any surviving blooms before joining his family at the circle. The frost having claimed most of the wildflowers, Ujurak managed to locate several late blooms of indian paintbrush. The petals had lost their vibrancy, the bright red now dulled as these flowers too began to wilt.

Clutching their stems, Ujurak walked besides his family in silence. The stones looming overhead just as they did when Gunnar had passed. Leaving the flowers atop his grave, Ujurak returned to his mother's side. Head lifting as she posed a question to them.

Turquoise eyes cast upon the circle. Stone monuments stood tall, weathered by age. Was there more to them? Ujurak had not yet considered that stones had a history. Now that he was thinking about it, had he seen other standing stones?

His brow creased as a slight frown set on his face. No, no he hadn't. He instead took into account what he knew he had seen. A cold pit formed in his belly. An answer slowly formed on his tongue. He chewed on it as it caught in his teeth. Cautiously, he presented his answer, They're... gravestones?

RE: children of the stones - Sven - November 23, 2023

Sven had no plants, but between teeth he carried a few feathers from a bird he had chased. He had not won, but the festhers he felt were good. He placed them atop with a small stone to hold them down.

Slate eyes looked over the stones as he settled near his brother and mother. He said nothing. Finding he didn't much like to speak anymore. Preferring the silence. Words meant nothing and they saved no one. But he could listen as Fadir had.
