Not Looking, Looking - Heph - December 17, 2023

The sight of the plateau near the northwest had Heph approaching the borders of Moonsong with perhaps more haste than was advisable on the icy terrain in the start of winter, but a jaunty smile was still on her lips at seeing the place settled. She had last been there for the claiming and seeing the borders strong and the pack doing well was a good thing. Unsure of venturing deeper into the territory she lingered on the borders and let out a short call, casual and without hurry. Her news could be passed on easily and she trusted it would find its way to @Ariadne though she wondered how the wolf who had spent a short time in Moontide fared as the new leader of Moonsong.

looking for Ariadne but all welcome :D
Being vague about whether they know about the hunt depending on how this thread goes

RE: Not Looking, Looking - RIP Ariadne - December 18, 2023

Although Ariadne was in no condition to go outside and exhort herself, she ignored any prior warnings to meet Heph at the borders. When she arrived, she was out of breath, and her nose ran; it was easier in her current state to become fatigued.

Heph, she panted, smiling despite her pain and discomfort. I apologize for keeping my distance—I am sick, but I wanted to make sure that you were taken care of, she said, words ending with a wheeze. How can I help you? she asked.

RE: Not Looking, Looking - Heph - December 18, 2023

When Ariadne approached her words and greeted her with a pant Heph worried, she hoped that it was merely a winter cold and that she had not called at a bad time. "I'm sorry for calling when you're not feeling well, I hope you feel better and if there's anything I can do please let me know." While Heph was not a healer she was a trader and willing to travel. It would be difficult before the hunt but she would manage it if necessary.

Hoping to get quickly to the point and not keep the other wolf long she added. "I came to invite Moonsong to a large hunt in Hoshor plains to the southeast of here in about five days time, just before the full moon. Moontide hopes to gather many packs and we would also greatly appreciate it if you had any healers to spare in case of injury." She had not met all the wolves in Moonsong and did not know what talents they might have, but though she hoped they would not need them the hunt was not without its dangers.

No, no—sneeze—it is okay. Please do not apologize! Heph had no way of knowing that Ariadne was sick; it wasn't important enough to have a scout report. I thank you, though. I will let you know, but I hope it will pass in a day or two.

When Heph began to speak, she was straight to the point and informed Ariadne of a pack hunt that was to happen in five days. Although she couldn't participate, the idea of bringing the packs together lifted her once-dreary spirits. Of course, she said, already thinking of their resident medic. We have @Aminthe—she is a very talented medic. I'll ask her when she stops by my den this evening, and Moonsong will be there. She'd make sure of it.

Can I offer you anything? she asked, thinking of Moontide's leader on a personal level—after all, she'd traveled all this way to invite and involve her village in a hunt! There is a cache not too far from here, in case you need a snack.

RE: Not Looking, Looking - Heph - December 18, 2023

The leader of Moonsong replied warmly and it made Heph smile, glad to have the help of the other pack especially as Moontide itself did not have healers of their own. She nodded at the assessment, hoping that it would indeed pass, although she was sure that byt he time of the hunt the other wolf would know if it had not so she would receive word either way.

Her voice was warm with thanks when she replied. "Thank you, and Aminthe." To herself, Heph committed the name to memory so that she could greet her properly when she arrived. At the offer of food she replied, glad of the offer although hoping the other wolf did not mind that she had travelled lightly and not brought anything to give in turn. "Thank you. If it's not too much to ask, I'm afraid it's been a long journey and I've brought nothing to offer in return." But if it was not too much trouble then she would gladly take the offered snack so she could forgo hunting on the jaunt back to Moontide.

She shook her head. Never too much to ask—you are family, and you will not go hungry as long as you are in my village. Ariadne waved Heph closer, inviting her in. Please, come. Is there anything else that you need? Furs for your shoulders? Snacks for the way home?

She pivoted in the direction of the cache, and she would keep herself at arm's length to prevent her illness from spreading.

RE: Not Looking, Looking - Heph - December 19, 2023

Heph smiled warmly and followed gladly, though she had not been born into Moontide the wolves there had welcomed her and being called family made something warm in her chest unexpectedly every time. But she shook her head at the offer of things for her travels, for she would move most swiftly with only her four legs and indeed that was how she had been used to journeying before meeting Rodyn and even for awhile after. "Thank you, a snack here is all I need for the journey back." She would follow at a distance and gladly grab a bite from the cache before bidding her goodbyes and wishes for the head of Moonsong to be well again soon. But though she was sad to depart quickly she had hope that there would be opportunity again to see one another. On the way she would tell Ariadne of Meerkat and Njord's search for a young couple to help them settle the Sunmote Copse, though Moonsong was young and she doubted any of the wolves there would wish to leave so quickly after settling they might run into or come across a couple that would suit.

RE: Not Looking, Looking - RIP Ariadne - December 19, 2023

Heph’s visit was quick, but Ariadne did what she could to support the messenger before she left. She provided a snack and pointed her toward the river, insisting she take a drink should she need to quench her thirst.

Before she left, the Beta provided Ariadne with an interesting tidbit about a couple wanting to establish a pack in the copse and wishing to find another couple to develop the claim with. I will keep an eye out, she promised before the two wolves parted ways.

Exhausted from the brief interaction, Ariadne returned to her den and quickly fell asleep.
