annugaak ⤼ - Kukutux - December 26, 2023

the hunt was beginning.

moonmother had hardly slept the night before. to this meeting she had brought sacred objects: a circle of old ivory, an elk tooth, and the remnants of the dried plant which brought dreams.

this last had been mentioned to no other.

rodyn was gathering his hunters in that frigid glow. kukutux watched him with a mother's pride, and then turned to collect her own healers. @Reverie, @Seal, @Ajei, alaric, and amalia would be their green-circle this day. beneath their tutelage would @Nasamiituuq be kept.

kukutux spoke here and there among them. cobwebs had been gathered for binding flesh, but in their absence or use, she too had chewed comfrey and dried roots ready to be replenished by another's jaws. there were strips of deerskin to be wrapped around cracked bones and tea already soaking in a skin beside the river. one of them would be asked to take this as their role, to watch over the steeping of the herbs which would be added to water throughout the day

with her she kept a tincture of poppy and dried lavender; she showed this to the other healers and bid them guard it from the young ones. it was to be given in a drink for the soothing of great agony from wounds which she would pray would not occur during this hunt.

there was nothing to do now but watch. to wait. kukutux passed around dried meat and kept her eyes upon chickadee, who now moved off with inkalorë and the young ones.

RE: annugaak ⤼ - Ajei - December 26, 2023

Ajei found she could breathe better near the river and the healing Ulaq. There were not as many wolves here. And she could watch the hunt with curiosity and a little bit of worry.

Many of her loves ones were out there hunting thr Big Bison with horns and hooves. Mouths and noses that snorted like Bellows. Rage in their bones when they would be forced to run.

And yet a sense of anticipation lay there if all went well and gods she hoped this hint would feed many.

RE: annugaak ⤼ - Reverie - December 26, 2023

Reverie had taken up beside the river, readily volunteering to watch over the tea as it steeped. There was much that she could learn from Kukutux, she thought, if only she had the time! For now all she could do was watch and listen.

And try not to worry for her husband. She felt sick with it, thinking of the danger he would be in. Reverie occupied herself with keeping a watchful eye on the tea, murmuring gratefully when Kukutux passed dried meat to her, offering a quick greeting to Ajei who seemed occupied; anything not to think about the hunt. Or who might come to the group of healers before it was over.

RE: annugaak ⤼ - Seal - December 26, 2023

Rodyn had selected Seal’s father, Njord, as a lead hunter and the girl watched, full of pride, as he gathered his wolves. To Seal, her Da was a hero. He had been a vanguard hunter at Moonspear and had fought the vicious hellcat. Now, she discovered a renewed admiration for him, though she also felt the weight of responsibility to be equally successful.

She worked diligently at Kukutux’s camp as the bodies of wolves frisked about. Seal, too, had brought some rare herbal supplies that @Meerkat had delivered from the Hinterlands. She was nervous but remembered the words of encouragement Grandma Towhee had once told her – how her experiences could help wolves in need.

The girl sensed anxiety in the air. She approached the others and touched both Ajei and Reverie’s shoulders.

“All will be well,” she encouraged them with her quiet Scottish brogue. She turned to the blonde, Hearthwood woman, then. “My name is Seal, what's yours?” she said with a kind smile.

RE: annugaak ⤼ - Alaric - December 26, 2023

Alaroc came bumping into the healing den eith a smile on his lips. He greeted Moknwoman and Ajei well and the pretty wolf like buttercups. Then he watched thr hunt.

He fiddled with furs at his feet his pack of herbs never far a soft hum under his breath.

RE: annugaak ⤼ - Amalia - December 26, 2023

Amalia watched the hunt with hunters gaze. But it was not for her today. No today was a day to help the healers and the caretakers. There were enough more than enough hunters.

She greeted her brother with laughter and set near Kukutux awaiting what was needed.

RE: annugaak ⤼ - Reina - December 27, 2023

Hunting was never her favorite activity. The sidelines were more suited for her tastes; healing and being the caretaker of others gave her heart a feeling of fullness. Her anxieties got the best of her at this gathering for she felt like jumping out of her skin. The red she-wolf couldn’t bear to watch the others get ready to hunt and what might lie ahead of them. She was best suited finding others who shared the same thoughts.

She thought of her golden friend, then. Where did she go? Padding her way through, she followed the unforgettable scent that belonged to Reverie. The same scent her brain has concluded as home.

Shortly, she came upon others that have gathered in a much smaller, more manageable, group; her eyes found the golden she-wolf nervously watching tea as if it was about to grow legs. Reina wanted to laugh at first, but she felt unease from her friend as she grew closer. She eyed the other wolves in a friendly manner, nodding her head with a small smile in greeting before bumping Reverie lightly on the shoulder with her nose.

Hey, is everything alright?
