blood dappled the quarry's slopes as she ascended towards a fabricated door, a hare hung clenched between vile jaws.
she breathed in the silent narrative of the land, of it’s claim, of it’s inhabitants. there was a healthy mix of man and woman here, of promise and want. one in particular stood above the rest, the perfume of a woman well aged.
a matriarch. the glue to the crumbling bonds of a brood. this was a familial pack, and she knew then she had no yearning for this place.
jaws constricted like a boa, blood spilt on a doorstep.
the serpent departed.
