Restless Tonight - Koda - November 24, 2014

@Raissa

Koda padded along the outskirts of the plateau, alone. He told himself he was patrolling the border to keep his pack safe, but he wasn't alone because he wanted to be. He was alone because the only wolf that had given a crap about him was gone.

Kesuk was on his mind again. Their last conversation was still ringing in his ears. He could still see the hurt in her eyes when he told her he was going to remain with the pack. He'd let her go, and for what. A bunch of wolves that couldn't even be bothered to learn his name.

A rustle in the undergrowth ahead made Koda come to a halt. He peered into the trees, but it was too dark to see if anyone was there. "Someone there?" he asked, in a calm voice. He wasn't too concerned about it, he figured it was someone trying to mess with him.

The yellow eyed wolf stopped when the bushes around her shuttered. Raissa didn't even know why she was here. She had been wandering around, boredness getting to her and making her itch for excitement. The male called out in an eerily calm, depressed voice.

"I could ask you the same thing. Who's there?" She called back, a smirk plastered to her face. She moved until she was sure he could see her eyes, but only that. Their fiery orange depths glowed in the night.

"Oh," Koda said with mild surprise as a feminine voice threw his question back at him. His eyes scanned the trees, and met a pair of fiery orbs staring back at him. He realized with a jolt that the eyes belonged to a wolf from a neighboring pack.

"Hey, you're not supposed to be here," he stated, though he made no attempt to get the intruder to leave. He didn't have the energy to get into a confrontation, so he hoped the she-wolf would just listen to him.

Raissa was extremely surprised when the male didn't try to run her off. Their packs weren't exactly best buds. His voice sounded defeated, like he didn't even care if she was there or not.

"Hey, I'm not usually very nice, but are you okay? You sound pretty not okay." She stated, coming out of the woods completely to face the depressed looking wolf.

The plateau wolf watched as the stranger emerged from the shadows. He tilted his head and gave her a sideways glance, slightly perplexed, when she inquired about his mood. She was a stranger from another pack, why did she care if he was okay or not? He suspected it was a ploy to get him to drop his guard.

"I just don't like strangers lurking around the border at night," he replied. "Please just go."

Fade?

This wolfs lack of emotion was making Raissa slightly irritated. She cocked her head to the side and studied him. He was handsome, that was for sure. His yellow eyes stood out in the dark of night, locked with her own orange ones. His expression drooped and he asked again if she could leave. Raissa knew now that she wasn't going to get a reaction out of him, so she might as well leave.

"Alright, since you asked nicely." She quipped, turning around so she faced the bushes on her side of the border.

"And I hope you feel better, guards like you wouldn't be to prepared if anything tried to attack." She stated, her fiery eyes flicking back to him before turning back to the path ahead of her. Flicking her ears in farewell, she turned and pushed her way through the bushes, away from the yellow-eyed guard.

couple more rounds pls, for exp :)

Koda exhaled a sigh of relief as the stranger stepped back over the boundary. She didn't go without sassing him a little first, but at least he wouldn't have to strong arm her off the territory. Even if he hadn't been all depressed and mopey, it would have been hard for him to be mean to such a pretty face. Perhaps guard duty just wasn't for him.

Suddenly, he felt an overwhelming desire to know the woman's name. He rushed forward, hoping to catch her before she slipped away. "Wait," he called into the darkness. "Can I at least know your name?"

RE: Restless Tonight - Raissa - November 25, 2014

Thank you! I didn't know what to say, but I want to get some exp too :P

The male called out to her as she started to leave. Raissa turned and looked back. She smirked, maybe she could get a reaction after all.

"Mayyybe," She drawled, her southern accent tainting the words. She couldn't shake it, no matter how hard she tried.

"But only if you tell me your name first." Raissa countered, stepping back out of the trees. She took a seat at the edge of the woods, her tri-colored tail wrapping perfectly around her dainty paws. She flicked her ears forward and tilted her head slightly, waiting for an answer.

The man hesitated momentarily. This tricky vixen seemed to get a kick out of turning his questions back on him. He decided there was no harm in telling her his name. "It's Koda," he replied.

He watched as she seated herself over the invisible line, curling her fluffy tail around her paws. He hoped she wouldn't get too comfortable hanging out in such a dangerous place. "Please be more careful around the borders next time," he advised. He hoped the she-wolf would heed his words. If one of his pack mates had discovered her lurking about, they wouldn't have had any reservations about using their fangs to drive her off. "The next wolf you bump into won't be as nice as I was, and I would hate to see you get hurt."

RE: Restless Tonight - Raissa - November 25, 2014

Koda, seemed to fit him. She told him just that.

"Koda, huh? Suits you. My name is Raissa. And don't worry about me, I can handle myself." She told him, lifting her dainty head up high and puffing her chest out in mock strength. She huffed and dropped her head, shading her glowing eyes mysteriously.

"Will I ever see you again?" She teased in a whisper.

RE: Restless Tonight - Koda - November 25, 2014

I think this is a good place to end

Koda frowned, Raissa did not seem to be taking him seriously. "If we do see each other again, it better not be here," he said firmly. He really wanted to drive home his warning: pack boundaries were not a cool place to hang out.

"I'm going to go on my way now," he told her, returning to the path he had been following. "I'm gonna pretend I never saw you," he added. No one but Koda knew she had been here, and no one else needed to know. "But you'd better be gone when I make my second lap," he warned. He hadn't been planning on completing another circuit, but he wanted to make sure she'd actually leave.

RE: Restless Tonight - Raissa - November 25, 2014

Sounds good :)

He became serious instantly and Raissa matched it with a faux professional look. She sat up strait and looked him in the eyes, flicking her ears in understanding.

"Yes sir!" She said with seriousness that was obviously fake. She dropped the act and stood up.

"I'm leaving, I promise. You wont see me ever again." Raissa said, smiling at him, holding truth to her words.

She turned to the dark bushes and pushed through them, disappearing into the dark depths of the forest, for good this time.

RE: Restless Tonight - Koda - November 25, 2014

Koda watched as Raissa retreated into the bushes, leaving him and the plateau far behind. He'd managed to protect the border, and without so much as baring his fangs. Maybe warden was his true calling, after all.

He returned to his patrol, and tried to put the encounter out of his mind.
