these days his stomach is always bitching
a grumble, a gurgle
an inconveniently timed pfoooot
as he's hunting.
he leaves kheviel to sleep
and stretches his legs along the saltpine
the wind is warm as it howls past
settling somewhere on a dusty gold horizon
cayetano winces as another flare
tears right through him.
he wades into the surf and closes his eyes
hoping the coldwater might soothe his belly.
