macaw - Muskrat - April 26, 2024

she is trespassing :o

what did her sisters care if she flirted around the forest with cloud singer? it had harmed no one, their fumblings; it would not have even ruined her for marriage.

and yet one of them had told grandmother about the secret place muskrat kept, the mossy bed with its curtain of tall grass.

she might have shed a tear, were she not battling the worst pain of her life. a silver bear had chased her on the plains. she had rolled her right hind-ankle with a resounding snap, but miraculously the bear had slowed, then turned away.

muskrat had kept her life at great cost. starvation was quick, thirst faster. she scavenged daily, her pelt growing so tangled with muck that she was smeared grey now with oily dirt.

looking and smelling more like her namesake, she limped without hesitation across the borders of a pack, gutting the first cache she found and devouring its contents, shoulders hunched sharply and the yellowsun eyes blazed in defiance. whatever came, muskrat accepted, and prepared to fight.

RE: macaw - Mae - April 26, 2024

Any injuries are fine!! Mae is 80-90% blind so at a large disadvantage
Mae might have been blind, but she wasn't about to sit back and let some brazen bitch raid her caches. The wind had changed and brought the scent of the stranger; she'd paused where she'd been trailing behind @Akavir, head lifting as she tasted the air. Then she had turned without a word.

She couldn't see much, but for the simple act of hitting a target as large as a wolf, she didn't need to. A terrible snarl tore from her as she lunged for the trespasser. It didn't matter to her where her teeth landed — so long as she drew blood.

It was a casual walk—until Mae skirted off. In retrospect he would wonder how she sensed the intruder before him—and then would wonder if her other senses had sharpened since the loss of her eyesight.

Still, he was a few paces behind the stubborn Mayfair, his own hackles lifted at the sight of the unknown wolf, scarfing down one of the caches the creek maintained.

His jaws clenched—Mae lunged—and he had a moment of consideration to knocking her aside and dealing with the problem himself. Their last interlude like this hadn’t gone in her favor—

—but he couldn’t coddle her. Not Mae—she would resent it. Resent him.

And so he skirted around her, while Mae sought one side of their haphazard visitor, he went the opposite, a snarl emanating from him, his jaws snapping forward to seek purchase on flesh and force the she-wolf down should he be successful.

knives seized muskrat just above her right elbow. a grunt of pain hung like a stone in the night.

then the awqalli was twisting through the air with her own bone-blades.

they were not alone.

her own jaws closed around the ear of the first attacker; she dragged the girl toward the ground, blood trickling into her mouth as the second warrior sang for her nape.

muskrat dropped beneath him, less capitulation than a gambit. mouthful of fur and flesh held fast. intending to shred if her grasp was fought, the trespasser did not fight the firm bite on her hackles. heart raced; ribs swelled; teeth clenched harder if the man sought to hurt her own skin in return.

a dark laugh burbled in her throat.

Teeth closed around her ear. Mae felt blood trickling down her head as the delicate flesh was torn. Her own grasp was shaken loose, but her father wasn't far behind her.

She just wished she could see what the hell was going on. Maybe then the trespasser would not have been able to get a grip on her. Mae snarled when she felt the woman's teeth in her skin, twisting violently to get away without pause. In this, the stranger would find that Mae cared less than her father did for any potential consequences.

lmk about any confusion or if a change needs to be made

His teeth found their purchase—the slender form beneath him was anything but acquiescent to her situation, however—as such became obvious with the attempted twist of his daughter and the stark scent of iron.

The stranger’s grasp on his daughter was a show down of sorts—a bid on who would make the first move. His vision of it all limited, given his position—already trauma from recent events playing in his mind—Mae losing her eyes.

Now what would Mae lose?

The dark laugh drew his ire more, his want to simply shake the life from her at the forefront of his mind.

Instead, his teeth would grip tighter—but now, he would begin to press his weight upon her—to try to pin her fully—

—his gaze lifting as he willed his daughter to move away from the situation and from danger, even if she could not see it.

same! tldr her hold on mae is slipping and she's losing but she's holding onto whatever she can grab till it's ripped out of her mouth F feel free to PP that in ur next post xynien! <3

blood filled her mouth as the girl writhed and kicked, all claws, teeth, and the torn ear. they were tangled, the younger wolf slowly peeling herself from muskrat.

the awqalli growled, a long sound that took a good deal of breath. it was a challenge in return to the rejoining crush of the heavier man on her spine.

the girl arched violently. muskrat was aware of her weakening grasp and bit harder at the skin easing out from her grasp, limbs lunging to add her own strength. let the escape be had — for the price of blood.

pinned and with the air slowly ekeing from her lungs, muskrat growled again, crimson smeared at the corners of her mouth as her chin was driven down.
