sobeille woke with her blood thrumming in her ears, excitement rushing the full length of her body as her memory returned to her and chased away the fogginess of sleep.
she left the sound, filled with a novel sense of vigorous restlessness. as the sun climbed the sky, a hazy yellow settled over the wildwoods. she could feel the pollen as she brushed through it; could sense it stick to her fur and coat her tongue.
she pressed on, where the pollen hung in thick globs on verdant green leaves. ravensblood opened up to her like a dark organ, its secrets warm and thickly wet.
sobeille placed her paw on the root track of a black spruce. she traced its deep ravines with a claw, absentmindedly thumbing the hole where her canine had once been.
