rendezvous time!
The days marched onward, and the youngest Ostregas grew and changed. She led the children outside the den, further now than they had been on the short trips before. And while she would always guide them back to the ulaq to sleep, they would now spend their days here. It had once been the place of Stingray's pine bed. Now it would become a playground for her children: @Treepie, @Pauk, and @Kaujimaq.
It was bittersweet, knowing that @Maggak and @Acrux were not here to see their younger siblings. Would they ever know them? She did not think they were near, and yet her voice called out for them on the off-chance they had returned to the village.

Tiuttuk capered after their mother, their lips forming an “o” as they attempted to whistle. They weren’t very good at it, though occasionally they managed to to shape their mouth just right to get out a sharp trill. On one such occasion, a jay perched on a bough overhead chirped back as the foursome passed beneath the tree. Treepie beamed at it.
Sooner than later, they reached their destination. Pie took to exploring, their nose dropping to sniff at the fragrant bed of pine needles before ranging outward. Their tail swished as they gave up on whistling and took to humming instead. The June sun felt warm on their swarthy face when they paused to tip it skyward and muse aloud.
Today’s adventure,
Is just the first slice of a,
Very scrumptious pie.
They laughed under their breath.
