buit - Elodie - June 21, 2024 he's going crazy, ellie whispered to @Swordfish, stress beginning to wear at her coral-pink eyes in the form of a new puffiness to them. but i feel like i cannot leave 'im. @Lestan had found his beloved daughter, and yet he was falling apart at the seams. he spouted drivel that was scarcely ever understood to elodie's foreign mind, and yet it intrigued her. a bonepiece, something about a witch and a boy. it sounded almost like old wives' tales from the northern reaches of her homeland. the ragtag bunch had gone northward, well into the taiga, and she could not help but think that this was not a path that led to the fabled creek. but there was — somewhere, at least — the promise of a home, a future, written in fine print between the lines of the mess she now held in her sunburnt palms. RE: buit - Swordfish - June 21, 2024 Crazy was a severe understatement. Lestan’s condition had only worsened since the loss of his trinket. Day by day, he grew more frightening, more wild. His gaze remained dark and cold, gone far away from the ground they walked. Ellie said that she did not want to leave him. Swordfish struggled to suppress a snort. Dunno if he’d notice. But the guilt ate at him as well. As mad as Lestan grew, Swordfish had not considered slipping away in the night. The problem had seemed a simple one. Retrieve the bone and restore Lestan’s sanity. After wandering the wilds with no sense of direction, it did not seem a simple thing. Y’know… ya could slip out. Visit any packs in the area. Let ‘em know ‘bout these two thieves. That we’re lookin’ fer his- thing. At least then they might have a chance. More eyes to search, the greater their odds. RE: buit - Elodie - June 27, 2024 no. he was right, yes, that was something she could do. something she probably should do; get out while she could, and yet; he needs us,elodie whispers, gathering herself into a sit. her tail folds over her feet, and her eyes follow the natural curve of her own body. somet'ing tells me zat he does, at least. is zat crazy? to t'ink such a t'ing? i mean, why do you stay? you are so... normal, she barks out a laugh. an' i get ze feeling zat his antics are not what you need in your life. RE: buit - Swordfish - June 27, 2024 Why do you stay? Swordfish glowered at her, unwilling to answer the question at first. His eyes were deep and blue and cold. She claimed that he was normal. The bear-hunter scoffed, a huff of air that passed through his nose in a soft snorting sound. Silence filled the air after her question. He considered leaving it unanswered. It wasn’t any of her business anyway. She didn’t know that he was normal. She didn’t know anything about him. And neither of them knew much about Lestan… the poor wretched thing. I know what it’s like. The edge of his voice bordered on pain and anger. To need help an’ not get it. To have to do it alone. His jaw clenched and he shifted his eyes away from Ellie.
