ursidae - Adalynn - July 02, 2024

@Avalita, follow-up of this thread.

yesterday. adalynn's mind could never tear itself from yesterday. even when underneath the warmth of her mother or bundled together with her sisters, something that lied beneath the princess' heart had been unveiled to her. much like the head of It.

she returns to where she'd found It. there's nothing, as if It had never existed. but adalynn could still smell It, still see the muddied red and browns the grass had turned when It had become known to the girls.

the bear princess' nose twists with a sniffle. even as butterflies dance around in ignorant bliss, today the girl couldn't bring herself to join then.

avalita was much less concerned — instead, she was fascinated.
why did the blood spatter like that? what did it look like when the creature died? what did the body do when it shut down?
the forensics-student-in-the-making found herself crawling after adalynn, snooping a good few paces behind until they reached the place where it happened. there, she felt comfortable enough to make her presence known with a whuff.
beaw? she babbles, implying that the source of the chestnut tuft — which was now scattered about in the grass — was what adalynn was searching for.

adalynn's pudge bounced a foot in the air when avalita decided to surprise the second-born. icy blue eyes, once wide, squint in disapproval — both at the dirty trick as well as avalita's ascertion. the fur didn't belong to a "bear," mama already said so.

nuh-uh. her head shakes vigorously. canine. adalynn scoffs, unsure why she's surprised at her sister's stupidity. she barely passes the grizzled fur a glance.
