would you stay - Toula - July 25, 2024 backdated pretty significantly bc i need a preggers @Eset and T thread no mother, no sisters, no brother, no father for longer now, it felt, than she had ever had them in her life. but she had no forgotten them, not forgotten her love for them. neither could she forget, though, her people—who protected her, loved her, elevated her to a place she had not dreamt to be in herself. her people, who she loved in turn and would do anything for! she had need to rest in Muat-riya. it was recommended that she take some days to rest, to do nothing but be pampered and indulged. Toula was easily convinced, if only because this particular part of growing Akashingo’s cubs was exhausting! but she convinced her husband, too, to join her— @Rashepses, my love! it will only be just the two of us for a little while longer, might we steal away for a few days?(a babymoon!)—and so, assenting and preparing, another fellahin made the short journey to inform Muat-riya and its residents to prepare. and at last they arrived, songs and cheers heralding their presence. Toula felt giddy, and her eyes sought out one of her dearest friends. RE: would you stay - Eset - July 26, 2024 She was pregnant. In her mind, no question remained of the incipient child. She was convinced of a single baby, because she could imagine only them. Or perhaps it was a hope. She understood she was too slight to carry more than one of Akavir’s wolf-children to term. Scarcely had Eset allowed herself to feel such happiness. To dream of a better life, the coy had so often prepared for the worst. She had become so inept in her attempts to protect herself from suffering that she had also protected herself from living. Once, there were no miracles, but only when they were missing. Now, they had appeared, in little more than a quickening deep within her belly. Already that presence had become the core of her world. When she did not denounce honest thoughts they stole to covert memories of their father. She fantasied of going to him, of falling into his arms and shielding herself in his waters. How was it, to be taken care of? To be joined with another at the heart? She did not know. And even in reveries, she convinced herself that the creek alpha would have found another sweetheart- a woman who looked nothing like her. Whose paws were clean. It would be wise of him to unlearn her face. Eset had come into this world with only her mother, and as she takes a private break from the morning’s preparations to stroke the still-flat flesh of her stomach, she whispers softly to them: “We are stronger than stone; darker than shadow.” She was terrified. But she had lived the lives of twenty women, and in each had found a way to be ok. A fellahin’s voice calls. The hebsut gasps, springing from her chambers down the halls, heart a tremoring lope! At long last she had returned! Toula. Pharaoh. Savior. Friend. ...and now mother! As the coy skitters into the reception hall she cannot conceal the laughter in her voice nor the tears that glaze her eyes. Crying- why is she crying? “Great One- you are glowing!” Truly, Pharaoh is! There is a new softness to her feminine form. It made Toula appear wiser, but all the same youth and kindness radiate from her smile to light the cool blue passageways of her summer palace. It gratifies Eset's heart to see Toula so well and beaming once more, even in the face of pregnancy. There is so much she wants to ask, to say; to confess! “You and the Consort Rashepses honor Muat-riya with your presence, your Grace. You have been greatly missed," she adds with a look of sincerity before curving into a bow- when her arms wished most of all to embrace the girl-ruler. |
