recreated world - Callyope - August 05, 2024

she came to moontide as she had told @Panuk she must.
this taste of the ocean made her somehow grateful to know that just beyond her own spine was more familiar lands. perhaps she had become attached to the forest too and not realized it until she was far from it.
but she wished to hone a hunting skill and to do so upon unfamiliar lands might make her the best provider. @Rodyn had told her of their seals and fish. perhaps it was best to place her anxieties into excitement to see these coastal hunters.
politely she stood at their border and called for company.
they were a moon village, but not hers! she would not walk right in!

Rodyn would be lying if he said it didn't make him nervous to have a daughter of moonwoman at his door step. Not because they were a hindrance, but because he loved them so and two had been lost. And he worried over the rest.
But he trotted to the borders with a smile.
Hello Callyope! What brings you to moontide?
A sweeping brush of his tail in greeting. And he waited warm yellow eyes.

it was good to see rodyn's face. she had always known him as a bear man, but it seemed like the coast fit him better these days.
i was hoping moontide might have me as a guest — and train me in hunting.
she knew it was a mighty thing to ask!

Rodyn felt a man of two worlds. The forest at his back the sea at his front. It was grounding. Poetic even.
He tilted his ears forward. A small smile turning into a beam.
We would love both. You know me I love all things to do with hunting. Us there something specific you wish to hunt.
Then he motioned.
Come come in. Please. I have meat and water near my ulaq.

she laughed warmly and did not let the still lingering grief cloud her.
he was kind to invite her near his ulaq for rest. she only wished that elk was with her, so that rodyn might look upon him and see a potential brother in the man she adored.
who are your hunters in moontide? you aside!

Rodyn grinned and tilted his ears forward. The yellow of his eyes lighting up with glee.
I'm sure we can help with that here.
Rodyn was protective of the sister's of his late wife. And he would have looked upon her new beau with a small wariness, but done his best to see the man for how good he was to Callyope.

He thought about it.
If we can gather enough hunters gladly. I will not hunt seal with less than 3. They are not easy prey.
He knew 2 could take them, but he was more comfortable with 3.

what is the plan for seal hunting? how do they evade our teeth?
she imagined, very easily, how quickly it might turn a hunt sour. beasts of the water attempting to take hunters into depths with them.
after the recent loss, she was not terribly fond of the idea of being forced to tread deep waters!

Rodyn shifted and looked out over.
With seal we must ambush and not allow them in the water, nor go into the water with them. They too have sharp teeth, and blunt heads. And in the water. Well they are as deadly as we are on land.
He tilted his head.
I have only hunted seal myself once. It was a grand day, but also a prize barely won.

it sounds like they are a badge of honor for a hunter.she felt a bit sheepish for having asked to hunt one now!
perhaps i am meant to sharpen my skills before i partake in seal hunts.
she did not mind humbling herself in this moment.

Yes. Chakliux's former village, his home roots. To kill a seal is how they become men. It is how Raiyuk became man.
Rodyn grinned.
We will make sure they are sharpened for you. I will have you go home a better huntress than you came. Though being of who you hail from I believe it will a natural transition.

to kill a seal was to become a man. her cheeks continued to burn, feeling very much like she had asked too grand of a task for her visit.
regardless, she felt flattered!
and you may call upon me for hunting any time! my hunts will be for all of the moon villages.she promised and moved to politely offer a bump to his shoulder.
it would be good to stay in moontide for this learning.

Rodyn did not mind her questions and if she wanted to hunt a seal. He would make sure she knew how someday. Not certain how, but he would do his best.
