perla - Soto - August 12, 2024 a headless body topples on itself into the mud. soto inspects its grisly end. a heron, dispatched here on the fertile banks where the red of its blood joins the river. he leaves the kill, suspicious of the teeth that marked it. as he moves south the scrubland dries out, and the scent of his brother lingers on the wind. he turns his head back in a strung howl, more owl-like than wolf — the secret summons call for @Juarez. The drugs had kept her lingering between wakefulness and dreams. The drugs and the visions she was given were a cocktail for dependency. If she grew too defiant, he dragged her. If she was a good girl and followed him, he let her walk on her own. Hermano. Nos traje una esposa, the man grunted to his dark-haired kin. @Silvertongue was regarded with a predatory stare. RE: perla - Silvertongue - August 12, 2024 today she had not been good. today she had been dragged. her upper arms were bruised by his teeth, her scruff raw and punctured in at least one place. she had fought juárez, cursed him, sent her voice howling into the sky. once. once. another call. another presence. a dark figure as brutally built as her captor filled her eyes, and fear in turn filled her belly. RE: perla - Soto - August 18, 2024 it’s not long before his brother appears, a silvery swan held in tow. and like the famed bird, her wings were clipped — drugged and missing a leg. soto’s eyes linger. there’s still some fight in her, but surely the few seconds of darkness she’d already tasted would become days, even years - until her hope bleeds from her like a river. it would hurt her less to just give up. he turns to his brother in silence, eyes questioning him for what he planned to do with this argent dove. Juárez could read his brother well enough. They had been constant companions through their lives. He did not know anyone as well as he knew his dark-coated kin. They were cut from the same bloody haunch. They had an intimate awareness of each other. Juárez regarded the girl who tried to show her spirit. He snickered at the words she spoke. A slave... Fitting, if he could manage to hook her on his drugs. She would be a slave to the feelings they gave her. Ella es una buena cogida. Da pelea. RE: perla - Silvertongue - August 19, 2024 once upon a time, the one once belen might have found this a deep compliment. perhaps she might have paraded herself toward this brother, glutting herself on the potential of having them both and thus power. but there was only a dangerous haunted threat here, the promise of cracked bones and eyes put out. slaves needed none of those things."está mintiendo," the moonweaver hissed through sharp fangs with a sharp laugh. "estoy flácido como una polla vieja." silvertongue knew this did not matter, that they would taste whatever of her life they wanted. but she also knew men, and knew that men who took would be thwarted and dissatisfied by such gauche surrender. they had left the qeya far, far behind. her children were safe, and thus silvertongue was free not to fight for her release.
