Do the Goat's Bite? - Phobos - August 21, 2024

Phobos' wanderings had brought him to all sorts of places, but the mountain was not one he had been looking forward to. In fact, he had been avoiding it up to this point.

He stared up at the peaks warily, an unusual look scorning his usually calm expression. He could already imagine the aches his legs would be feeling for days after this trip. Phobos had lived in a similar mountain when he was young; they had never been his cup of tea.

However, he knew very well why this trip was so necessary. He would gain nothing by shying away from the challenge.

she roamed, she knew that not every face could be ran off. they would need other bodies. they would need those who could support the image they were cultivating upon the ridge.

she only watched him for these moments, curious if he would bother to notice her.

Spotting another wolf as his onlooker his eyes narrowed and head leaned forward to get a better look. He wasn't sure why he found himself to be so perplexed by the sight.

"I need to head further in." He called back in response.

Usually he would make a point of ignoring curious strangers, however gathering some information before he continued couldn't hurt.

"Are there any territories I should avoid? I'm here to look for herbs, I would prefer to avoid a fight."

the ridge beyond this mountain, she gestured back towards where porcupine ridge laid. but if i escort you, you will find no fights while you forage.

After taking a moment to consider his options, he nodded. As long as he kept his guard up an escort through the mountains would be useful.

"I see no reason to reject your offer." He lifted his paw, hesitating for a short moment before beginning to climb up to where she stood.

good, she was prepared to follow him wherever he wished to go.

they might travel in silence for minutes before she dared to speak again. this time with a boldness that did not match the neutral look on her face.

do you collect them to heal or harm?

"You can't have one without the other." His response was blunt - an effort to avoid the question.

Stepping through the rocks, careful eyes searched his surroundings for anything of use.

"For now I only wish to scout out what is available in the area, however."

oh, how her interest in him only raised!

the mountain chain is long and plentiful. she informed him with a sweeping gaze. it has much to offer one who wants for both.

she gently tried to guide their course towards where she had thought she'd seen new growth.

He gave a nod. "The growth seems healthy - it hasn't yet been treaded over."

"It's much better than in the flat territories. The pack wolves there pay it no mind."

His tail began a slow wag, head lowering to a bundle of yellow flowers sprouting from their stem.
