[PHE] Carried away - Ponderosa - October 09, 2024
Tag only for reference. :D Open to all, but perhaps fellow youth?
Ponderosa had gone to her mother, telling Mama she wished to explore. As she grew, it seemed that while she retained her shyness, deep down she wanted to climb out of her introverted box. It seemed that perhaps this newfound courage came from @Rodyn, who, in her eyes, was strong, a brave hunter. She greatly enjoyed the hunting lesson he gave her, and left her wanting more.
Raindrop saw no immediate risk in letter the her growing daughter explore, and knew well where the wish to wander came from. “Of course you may, Rosa. But do not go off with strangers. If you need help, at all, or get lost, call for help.” And she nuzzled her daughter fondly, and nudged her forward. “Now go!” She chuckled.
And so, Ponderosa was off, leaving the Moontide camp behind, her nose to the ground, her eyes ears alert. She moved with the prowess of a huntress, a stalking cat. Following her nose, she wandered further into the glen.

yellowstone camp was not far from moontide camp. and when akmaaksi was not helping her grandmother and sisters and cousins among the moonglow wolves, she was with her newfound companion in the yellowstone borders.
quietly firegirl flattened herself in the tall grass to watch the other young wolf. her step was confident; like all the moontide wolves, it was clear the stranger knew she belonged there.
at last akmaaksi was curious; she lifted from the field and approached on shy feet, quiet with ears cupped forward. where was she going?

She continued on until she paused, her head shot up and her ears swiveled. For a moment, she felt lost, not knowing where she’d wound up, and she carefully looked around at her surroundings. The grass had gotten taller, and the scents of other wolves were on the wind, drifting along. But, there was one scent in particular that was brought to her immediate attention.
The scent of another, one who was nearby. It was nearly impossible to see through the tall grass, and so she carefully moved forward, till the grass had began to shorten, and she gained more altitude. This was in fact a small hill.
Here, Ponderosa turned toward the breeze which blew the scent towards her, in an upwind position. She watched from her vantage point until the lurking stranger would show themselves.

in some moments, the two girls regarded one another.
this stranger smelled of sea and wore rodyn's pack-mark. they were kin, then. or allied in some way.
her tail swung once, head cocking to one side. where did the moontide girl go? akmaaksi wished to come along, a seeker of experiences to feed her flameheart.

From the grass appeared a girl, not much older than herself. The girl’s head titled to the side, her tail swung. It was as if they spoke without a voice, two silent souls, their bodies, their eyes, do all the speaking needed.
Ponderosa did not retreat, she did not feel threatened, and with a swish of her tail, invited the silent girl closer. If the girl accepted, they would introduce themselves, then continue on.

no smile either, though her eyes were friendly. too much had maimed her words for her to speak them now.
she was not with her brother. aapa was not here. and anaa was gone forever.
her gaze tightened with pain for a moment before she waved her tail again, glancing down the path she thought the moontide girl would take. akmaaksi said in all ways but tongue that she might come along.

There was some sort of look to this girl… sad, maybe? Ponderosa would not understand what was inside this girl’s mind, but the silent girl followed along, a wag of her tail as a reply.
The two continued on, not a word said between them. ‘Rosa would wonder if she would introduce herself, should ‘Rosa lead. As they walked near each other, in peace, Ponderosa spoke softly, almost a whisper: “I’m Ponderosa. Of Moontide.” If the silent girl did not respond, she would not object, sometimes the quiet better than speaking.

The silent girl did not speak her name or pack, but instead, she had motioned her head in the direction of a grand white wolf, who Ponderosa would guess was her family. She looked to the silent girl with childlike curiosity, wishing to know more, but knowing it may not come to the surface. At least, not yet.
They continued further, before the silent girl had stopped, her gaze turning to glittering lights dancing through the air. She wondered what these small glowing lights were, that her newfound acquaintance pointed out.
Ponderosa once again turned her father's yellow eyes towards the girl, "Can we explore more. Your camp?" Her voice still like that of a loud whisper.

akmaaksi nodded, her eyes still upon the glowing bits of dancing fire.
she brought the girl to the healing camp first, wending between wolves working over all manner of red things and bitter greenery.
quietly they stole closer to grandmother, but not before akmaaksi shyly pointed out her own sisters, pride rising great in her chest.

With a nod, the silent one led Ponderosa into her camp, among her family. Even though no words were exchanged, 'Rosa could understand. They passed by many wolves working hard, and then moved forward to another group of young wolves, the sisters of the silent one. 'Rosa could sense the pride in her new companion's chest.
Then, the silent one led 'Rosa to a grand white wolf, a woman of great leadership, from what Ponderosa could sense. 'Rosa immediately lowered her head in the presence of this matriarch.
