the hunt would be nearing an end soon, and with it, his chance of seeing @Nantahala again. he should hang out with her, right? she said he was cool, or rather, that getting his scars would be cool. but the specifics didn't really matter, now did they?

he meandered his way between the moontide and moonglow camps, trying to think of an excuse to hang out with her. they could play? no, that was too childish. go for a walk? meh, would probably be boring. maybe they could hunt? that's what this gathering was all about, right?

he toed on the edge of the moonglow encampment, trying to build his courage while keeping an eye out in case he needed to hightail it in the other direction due to unsettled nerves.

*YOINK*

While the hunt was nearly over, Nantahala still had much to do. There were preparations to be made for the journey home—materials to be packed, furs to clean, and camps to be taken down—and yet, she could not focus on any of these things. Her mind had been distracted since meeting Sirmiq and Kitimat, and she had considered stealing them both away for a time before they departed from the glen. She wished to get to know them both, and there was a chance she wouldn’t see either of them again for a while, as they lived so far away. The very thought of that made her sick, and she wished they lived closer.

She was just about to begin her chores when she spotted Sirmiq in the distance, and instantly her stomach dropped in excitement. What was he doing here? Was he here … for her?! She immediately jumped to this conclusion—as she couldn’t think of any other reason as to why he’d be here—dropped whatever chore she was about to start, and jogged from the opposite side of the camp to greet him with excitement and warmth.

Sirmiq, she called once he was in ear-shot. What a nice surprise—it’s good to see your face! What’s up? Her face was warmed by a large smile, and her tail swung wide as her hocks as she pranced closer.

a lump the size of a softball suddenly appeared within the boy's throat at the sight of nantahala running in his direction. what was he doing?! he didn't know how to control his nerves or impress a girl! but by the time sirmiq realized he was way in over his head, the pretty girl that stirred up butterflies in his stomach was already before him.

no running away now.

his tail mimicked the girl's own as he took a few steps in her direction, an internal voice whispering words of confidence to himself. his eyes spoke for what his tongue did not, "hello, again!" he gestured with a shy dip of his head.

"want to hunt?", he silently questioned while motioning off toward the hunting grounds.

There was an inviting gleam in Sirmiq’s eyes as he motioned towards the hunting ground, and Nantahala looked in that direction with interest. When she looked back at him, a large grin was on her face, and she nodded enthusiastically. ”He remembered!” she thought to herself, recalling what she’d shared with him when they first met.

She was smitten.

I’d love to, she replied, stepping towards where he motioned, but then hesitated to allow for him to take the lead—hunting had been his idea, after all. Do know what you want to hunt? she asked. They had plenty of options—as the glen was well-stocked with varying quarry—and she wasn’t particularly picky. All she really wanted was his company.

sirmiq beamed with all the glow a boy might have when a pretty girl kept his company. a wide smile and swaying tail grew to even greater strengths when nantahala agreed to the hunt. though when she questioned what it was they were to be hunting, he could only offer up a shrug of his shoulders. he'd been so hyper fixated on what to do if she had refused, that he hadn't exactly thought out what they'd hunt if she'd accepted.

oh well, they could find something together! he raised his paw to give a gentlemanly motion toward the hunting grounds as if to say "ladies first". he would let her take the lead if she wished to do so, after all, out of the two of them she likely had more experience hunting on solid ground.
