the passenger - Ruckus - November 09, 2024 While Redd and another took down a caribou, Ruckus found themself staring mindlessly into a crystal-clear creek that ran through the wooded area. They wondered now where they and Redd would go next. Would they stay with these strangers only for a short time before they moved on to another group? Thus far, that had been the pattern. Roam alone, stay with strangers, roam alone again, rinse and repeat. It was the life they had come to know. A squirrel skittered up one of the nearby trunks, causing Ruckus to whip their head around in that direction, but they did not give chase. RE: the passenger - Gideon - November 09, 2024 If only we hadn't walked so far and so fast, thought Gideon as he crashed through twigs and fallen leaves to emerge on the bank, I'd have caught you! He stumbled on unsteady legs that were sore and tired from the long march, panting hard and scanning his surroundings for the squirrel that eluded him. If he only wracked his brain a little, he would remember to search the nearby trees for its scent trail. Instead, his gaze snagged with a start on a pair of pale lilac eyes staring vaguely in his direction from a masked face at the creek's edge. It was the thin, silent little weirdo that had come along with an equally thin guardian right before they left the riverlands. Didja see where the squirrel went?he asked uneasily, finding he was unable to tear his eyes away from the vacant gaze of the other juvenile. Even the embarrassment of his legs giving out and forcing him to sit down wasn't enough. It felt like those eyes could swallow him whole, and not in a good way. Gideon suppressed a shudder. |
