I follow you around I always have But you've gone to a place I cannot find - John - November 20, 2024 Back dating to November 12th, as that is the day after Heda passed.
@Adah, the time has come. Let us get this new chapter started. :) Tagging Heda for reference only. The next day, after John and @Skaigona had spent their final moments, he woken from his slumber to find Heda gone. He panicked, calling out for her, like a child crying for his mother. He searched the land of the gathering until he finally found her tracks, her scent, and he followed it, throughout the day, and on through the night. He made haste, working to cover as much ground in twenty-four hours as possible. After night had fallen, he only stopped to rest, but not for long. Before the light was to rise over the horizon, he set out once more. By the late morning of the second day, the trail he tracked, alongside a river, led him to a familiar place, where there was both happiness and heartbreak. Out in the distance was Wheeling Gull Isle, and his feet carried him only to the edge of the water, where Heda's trail had faded. He stood still, feet planted in the sand as his ocean eyes filled fast with salty tears. The water kissed his toes, and his eyes soon became blurry. Here, his heart truly shattered, because he knew well enough where she had gone, and he could safely assume that she would not be coming back. In grief, sadness, and heartbreak, he cried out! His howl echoed over the waters and filled the air, with the hope that the wind would carry his voice, his goodbye, to Heda's finally resting place. Once he could cry out no more, his back legs gave out and he crumbled to the ground. He hung his head, sitting there at the edge of the ocean, as sobs came freely from within. He would be in a daze, with himself and his grief, unaware of the world around him. RE: I follow you around I always have But you've gone to a place I cannot find - Adah - November 22, 2024 Fianlly! She has been searching long and hard for him. @Cassian, I am tagging you just for reference since this is a one on one thread. Let me know if this reference this sounds okay to you. :)
It was now that she had left the island in the sea. After reaching a dead end there she took her search back to the mainland with @Cassian in tow, she and he would find company in each other. They were two wolves in a big world. The sun had been slowly rising over the horizon when she made contact with the sandy coastline. She glanced back at her travel buddy and then laid her nose to the ground in one final effort to find even a single trace of a scent. She breathed it in, a scent! A vaguely familiar scent, followed by a cry in the distance. It was distressed, and pained in a depressive manner. The good samaritan in her ran after it, hoping to find out who this character was and if their scent was indeed what she smelled. She stood on the crest of a freely flowing hill dotted with sea grass, slowly looking around. She saw the figure curled upon the ground, and called out to him. “Lift your head!” She wished to see the face of this man in despair. Was it…. Could it have been? RE: I follow you around I always have But you've gone to a place I cannot find - John - December 06, 2024 John had been so drowned in his grief, now curled up in the sand, the sobs rolling from his chest like waves. The ocean’s breath blew over him, rustling his fur as if it were a mother stroking the head of her child. It was also the wind, which brought a voice to his ears. The voice broke through his grief stricken daze, enough to bring his attention, brining his head up and shifting to look behind him. Like an angel, this wolf stood upon a hill of sea grass, the sun shining from behind. Through squinted, damp eyes he looked, and his heart skipped a beat, his expression left awestruck. “Adah…!” He cried, as if in disbelief. He now stood on shaking limbs, unsteady but longing to be embraced by the love of his sister. RE: I follow you around I always have But you've gone to a place I cannot find - Adah - December 06, 2024 The mourning man raised up from the ground, silencing his sobs he stood on shaking limbs in utter disbelief. She ran toward him, the sun at her back with her own eyes tearing up and then slowed to a walk. The words would slowly come out of her mouth, “John…. Is it you? My brother, it has been so long.” RE: I follow you around I always have But you've gone to a place I cannot find - John - December 06, 2024 As the figure ran toward him, without a doubt he knew that this was his one and only sister. She slowed to a walk, and stood before him, her brother. Tears returned to John’s eyes and is voice was but a whisper, for if he spoke louder, surely it would crack. “It is I, dear sister.” A smile crept to his lips. A sad smile, but still, a smile. “The Lord must have brought you here.” He said, with a slice of short term relief. RE: I follow you around I always have But you've gone to a place I cannot find - Adah - December 06, 2024 He stared into her golden eyes with his oceanic eyes, deep as the sea. They were pained and wet with his tears, though a small smile crept upon his tired lips, releasing a soft whisper. It was him, she felt a sense of peace glowing inside her. “My dear John,” she said gently, and licked his cheek “I am here, yes, the Lord has willed it so. I have missed you my brother.” She then wrapped her neck around his, laying a paw over his shoulders in an embrace. A heavenly one, for she now held her dear brother. Tears softly filled her eyes. She would later ask what pained him so poorly, but now she remained silent not wanting this moment to end. They would catch up later…. RE: I follow you around I always have But you've gone to a place I cannot find - John - December 06, 2024 His heart wished to sing, now having been blessed with the gift of his sister. Yet, his voice did not rise in song, and tears still rolled from his eyes. Tears of happiness, and tears grief. Peace, if only temporary, washed over him now, as his sister embraced him, and he embraced her. They remained there, and silently, he praised the Lord, for bringing His child peace in this turmoil. Light in the valley of the shadows. She did not speak, nor did he, not until they let go of each other, and his broken gaze found her golden. “I will tell you, Adah.” He whispered, his voice cracking, “In time, you will know.” “But for now, stay by my side. I wish to listen to the ocean sing.” Then, he turned, and returned to his spot on the sand, curling up to look out at the island. RE: I follow you around I always have But you've gone to a place I cannot find - Adah - December 06, 2024 The warmth of the embraced washed over her, then they both released. He spoke softly through a cracking voice, and assured her that she will later learn in time and as such, she would wait patiently. “That is fine. For now, I am happy to see you.” She listened to his words and nodded, then followed him over to his resting spot. He slowly curled up in the sand and she did the same, gently laying her head over his. Like mother would have done she shushed him, “Shh,” she lulled softly, “rest now my sweet John, find peace.” She laid comforted feeling his breaths rise and fall against her own body. Like two golden stars, they shone in the warm morning sunlight. As the last few rays began to rise over the horizon, lighting the sea and sky. RE: I follow you around I always have But you've gone to a place I cannot find - John - December 16, 2024 Being in the presence of his sister was comforting, healing, almost. He would cherish this precious moment, this moment of peace of mind, which would not last. The warmth that radiated from their bodies fought against the cold of the ocean's winter breath, the rising sun adding an extra touch of warmth, of hope. He did as Adah insisted, and laid his head down on her front legs, allowing his tear stained, aching eyes to close, lulled to sleep by the beating heart and breath of his sister, and the lapping of waves upon the sand. |
