kohara - Kartik - December 02, 2024 scents gathered here. enough for him to come closer with a warm curiosity. the nipping winter air drove him towards something less lonely. survival in numbers was not simply a wolfen thing.
he did not wish to be too rude in his lurking. after a few moments of snuffling about, he offered a call. curious and polite! not often his motif, but he figured that was the way to handle this. RE: kohara - Candle - December 02, 2024 Her mate, gone. The priestess did not allow herself to think of it. Her duties came first. Each day she set about securing the new place of coyotes in the desert, finding the hidden places and marking them as thoroughly as the open ones. She was not surprised to find another of her kind. Male, young and healthy. Perhaps he would sire the new children of the spring. Blinking back sudden tears, Candle yipped to the unfamiliar man and moved to greet him. RE: kohara - Kartik - December 02, 2024 she was dark, like a walking shadow come to weave through the once-hot land.
a softer figure yet one that spoke of health too. her scent had been laid down over this place. she was the one he had sniffed out when he had come looking. he returned her yips. his posture shifted with a little shimmy, tempting her nearer to him. RE: kohara - Candle - December 06, 2024 Candle took the bait easily, whisking forward with her tail a blur at her heels. Her ears folded, her yips half-whined, she fell into a playful bow before him. Then the priestess bounded away, inviting him to follow with soft calls. To play; in this way he would become Clan. Her own sort of Clan. Without Zoug it could not be what he'd envisioned — but it could become her own vision, surely. An end, but a beginning too. RE: kohara - Kartik - December 06, 2024 dark flame.
he bounded after her like a hopeless moth. his calls into the sky were loud without care. let all who ran with her hear his songs! let them know that he had come to add another body among them! chittering teeth, he was reaching for her plume of a tail certain that he would never catch it. trying all the same. he must make a grand show to her, he felt. such was only right as the new one among them. RE: kohara - Candle - December 06, 2024 A grand show indeed! Candle whirled as he reached for her tail, the song of her laughter filling the air. Closer to the falls now, the air turned misty and cold. The priestess turned sharply away from the water and toward the stony spires that surrounded the falls. There the man would begin to see the secrets of Clan; he would catch the scents mingling, glimpse the shadowy mouths of caves which served as dens. A place of coyotes; a place for coyotes. Candle filled the air now with the song of their kind, listening for returned calls. Some of her kin answered, too far off to name them. RE: kohara - Kartik - December 06, 2024 the makings of a home.
he glimpsed the dens and knew the water would boast rich finds. life here could flourish if they allowed it, if they willed it. his voice continued to raise with her own. promising in its presence. he weaved through the lands and searched its richness with his own eyes. he dared to dive into a cave where his voice echoed loudly! RE: kohara - Candle - December 06, 2024 By chance he'd chosen the cave which Candle had once chosen herself. She knew immediately that she would choose it again when her season was upon her. A sign; the priestess had long left such spirituality to her mate's capable ministrations, but she remembered enough to recognize it now. Clan would have children again, and soon. Her voice lifted as she followed him, rising over his song, challenging it to match her own. RE: kohara - Kartik - December 07, 2024 perhaps he'd drive himself deaf if he continued on this way. the yapping and screaming.
however there was a great joy in hearing it align with another again. he was no creature meant for slinking solitude. it had not been kind to him. not like this place. not like her. did she lead this band? he had much to learn, still, but there was plenty of time for it. especially when he had decided here was where he would stay. his cries had grown loud enough that he felt them ring his ears. the bouncing sound nearly painful! he burst free from the cave, quick enough that he felt like the wind itself might carry him across the lands. so much to see. so much to do. RE: kohara - Candle - December 08, 2024 It went against every rule of secrecy Candle meant to enforce, the racket they made. She found she didn't care. Let the wolves know that coyotes still roamed this desert; that they would never find them. Let them fear what would happen among the shadows and the mists. |
