While his idea of a settlement here was still in its infancy, there came the question of a name. The thought of stealing his mother's had crossed his mind more than once; it would be so easy to mark this place his own Dreadmurk - but it didn't fit.
Mictec had spoke of her own mother and he had told her to live life her own way. Perhaps, it was time to take his own advice. Above him, the sequoias towered like sentries, casting the forest floor in eery shadows and one by one, the pieces fell into place. "Murkwood it is," he murmured to no one but himself as a grin wormed its way onto his inky face. "Thanks, ma."
He reached the treeline and stepped out into the morning sun, shivering warmly, and cocked his leg to mark a nearby tree.
