a note on account security and passwords - Sialuk - December 05, 2024

i know that these are just fictional wolves, but since i've brought it up in chat several times, i figured it deserved a dedicated topic here, too!

using bitwarden (free, cross-platform password manager) or similar is a really easy way to create, manage, and store passwords. i'm not affiliated with them in any way. (i actually pay for / use 1password!)

also, with many email services (including gmail, protonmail, and fastmail), you can create plus aliases. so if your email is you@example.com, you could use you+character@example.com. that way, if you need to request a password for that character, you won't get an email for every single account you've created (which can disrupt our email service if you have lots).

addendum: if you want to request a plus alias be added to any account, you can do so in maintenance. :)
