into the fresh pat of snow she scribes the shape of a triangle.
at its head the moonstone glimmers, facing east where the mouth of the shape funnels good energy into new beginning.
at each foot a tithe. to the right the flesh of a ground squirrel. earth. steadiness. persistence.
to the left, the path she practices -- the bound form of a small winter wren. flight. progress. new horizons.
she draws obsidian across her wrist and dribbles fresh blood into the snow; it lands in perfect patters, crimson stark against white.
she invokes coyolxauhqui to watch this newly consecrated place, eyes closed as a passel of clouds obscure the waning light of the moon above.
