The woodland shook and shimmered in winter's grasp. A little red wolf, sequestered away from the reach of any men, prowled beneath snow-laden trees. She searched for a meal.Raelle had already found herself a den, a tiny hole in the ground at the center of a tiny clearing, where she planned to isolate herself for the remainder of her season. She couldn't bring children into the world. Not now. Not ever. Shadows flashed at the corners of her vision, but she pressed on, shivering lightly. Whether from cold or fear, she didn't know.
