Good Luck, Babe! - Creggan White Hare - January 11, 2025

Joining the band- @Damsel @T.K.@Barley
Lyrics by Chappell Roan. “Good luck, Babe!”

Ayuh-huh, ayuh-huh, ayuh-huh-huh, yuh-uh! To stop the world, just to stop the feeling…To stop the world just to stop the feeling,

Perhaps one of the worst parts of being lost was not being able to simply dance by the Alexa until Daddy put music on, so that she could remember what the words to an earworm were. She remembered only the last part of the chorus, which was stuck on repeat- but she could not, for the life of her, draw out the lyrics she wanted.

To stop the world, just to stop the feeling, She repeated, slower, and an octave down. She too slowed and stopped, as if to mimic the slowing of time, as she gazed around the meadow with her large eyes bulging and glassy.

Snow had come, and the cool wind made her shiver.

It was nothing like home.
Truth be told, she was safer here; unbeknownst to her the house, the yard, the pool, her stuffies, the Alexa, and all the dog dishes and toys that Daddy hadn’t had the heart to put away since Creggan White Hare had been stolen- all of it had been consumed in flames. Her pink leash (the one with the dancing ponies) had been left hanging by the door, just in case he needed to rush to a shelter if someone had found her. That one keepsake, miraculously, had been untouched.

So she saw snow, not ash. And only Daddy would be grateful, if he ever found her again, that she had been stolen and lost in the cruel wilderness, and not at home which was where she would have been on the day the fire blew into their neighbourhood.

Creggan had no such knowledge of world news, and instead was cold, hungry and miserable. She began to zigzag about the clearing, scavenging both for something to eat, and for the lyrics to the song she missed.

RE: Good Luck, Babe! - Damsel - January 11, 2025

A new scent in Damsel's now precious land would often be unwelcome, but this time it sparked her interest. Dog, not wolf.

She saw it soon, a smaller canine who reminded her a bit of T.K. A sighthound, she assumed.

A soft 'woof' was given to alert them to her presence. Have you come from far, my friend? She speaks to them as though an old acquaintance, for all Damsel knew she could be.

She knew a hungry dog when she saw one. For a moment her nose lifted, checking for the scent of nearby prey.

RE: Good Luck, Babe! - Barley - January 14, 2025

not only her precious land. his, too.

barley came from behind damsel, an imposing figure besides her, a stoic thing, grey like mountains, watching like a sentinel. he lets his wife do the talking, here to support.

strange singing. he'd say nothing, let his wife handle it.

he was only here for when things got messy.

skippable! just wanted to establish his presence
