gold coalescing over the tombs of kings - Towhee Jr - January 12, 2025
towhee rises with the sun as it peaks over the dawn horizon. she stretches and hunts a small rabbit that she devours so fast that she gets a wave of nausea as a result and it takes all of her willpower to keep it down. how could she possibly be both hungry and nauseous at the same time?
mildly perplexed but not too terribly concerned about it she makes her way out of the borders to explore the glade, drawn by the scent of its namesake; unknowingly lucky that she cannot hear their haunting, eerie cries.
she is careful to give kvarsheim's borders a wide berth, sticking to the western side of the glade. she pauses to scratch her shoulder against a sparse spruce tree as she approaches it, careful not to disturb the three quills placed there by ameline with tree sap ... though as sticky as the tree sap was and how it bonded to both the quills and her fur there, towhee suspects the quills won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
her gaze rakes the frozen meadow, barren with snow and ice that clung to the resilient heather grasses as ghost flies overhead; scenting the air.
