happiness is a butterfly - Morwenna - January 15, 2025

the morning light stretched thin over the qeya’s reaches, casting long shadows across the jagged terrain. star eater’s paws moved with purpose, her breath clouding in the crisp air. further from the familiar bends of the river, she sought what the land might offer—herbs for healing, for fortifying the stores of her new home.

her gaze fell to a cluster of greenery clinging stubbornly between the cracks of the weathered rocks. a small smile ghosted across her features as she lowered her head, sniffing carefully. resilient, she thought, plucking the herbs with practiced ease. like us.

She didn't mean to follow, but the sleek dark woman had admittedly intrigued her. Clearly a mate to the ragged man who had found her before, this wolf held great power, and—

If their blood was to gain a foothold in these distant lands, they desperately needed allies.

Rising Sun quietly entered the thicket, meandering 'round for a while before homing in upon the last traces of Star Eater's scent. Finally, she came across the woman, poking at herbs trapped in the clefts of rocks.

Hello, she greeted quietly, tail beating a slow, gentle rhythm at her hocks. I can help?

Her grandmother and namesake had been an herbalist, and Rising Sun had picked up things from the old matriarch here and there. She would never be an expert. . .but perhaps knowledgeable enough to be of assistance.

star eater turned at the sound of another’s voice, her eyes finding the agouti colored woman with a calm yet cautious gaze. her posture was relaxed, though her tail held a slight curve, a silent statement of her position.
her expression shifted, a fleeting softness settling over her sharp features—inviting, but not entirely warm. a silent welcome, accompanied by a small nod of her head.
perhaps, she said evenly, her voice steady, though not overly friendly. she glanced toward the herbs trapped between the cracks of stone, then back to the woman. what do you know of these?
