Bloodsucker - Envy - January 24, 2025 Envy looked for more than herbs today.
worse, even worse!
Today, she set out to find the catalysts for a very different cause. No longer were her little escapades so self-serving, a means to an end when a question buzzed buzzed buzzed around her mind until she had no choice but to find an answer. Now there was purpose in her step, and it seemed the quiet shame that often found her in times like these was absent. Dangerously so. The little purple flowers that poked up from mossy, damp earth; she looked for these in the spots where the snow had melted, which were few and far between, this time of year. When she did manage to source some out, they were meager little pickings, but plenty potent in each petal. Envy did not harvest these with her mouth, taking no risk of ingestion. Instead, clawed white paws tore at the soil with practiced skill, a misplaced maternal sort of care taken to assure the sweet pretty flowers took no damage. When she unearthed them all, she crouched and nudged them with her nose into a small pouch made of sap-stuck thick leaves. It served its purpose. Crocus petals kept away from her tongue and teeth, she carried on. What a nasty one, this was. She shuddered with a perverse sort of anticipation. RE: Bloodsucker - Mictec - January 25, 2025 mictec's marigold eyes caught the movement first, a flash of pale fur against the dark earth where the snow had melted. she stopped at the edge of the clearing, her form half-hidden among the sparse trees, watching the stranger crouched over the flowers. the wolf’s actions were meticulous, deliberate, as though each petal held more weight than its fragile appearance suggested. mictec’s gaze lingered on the sap-stuck pouch and the careful way the blossoms were handled. whoever this was, they moved with intent—and intent always bore questions. stepping forward, mictec let her presence be known with a measured voice. i did not think to find another soul here.her marigold eyes glimmered, their intensity softening slightly as she studied the other wolf. what need draws you to them? her tone was calm, but curiosity laced her words. she kept her distance, her stance neither threatening nor overly welcoming, waiting to see if this stranger would offer answers—or if mictec would have to search for them herself. RE: Bloodsucker - Envy - January 25, 2025 @Mictec ty for your patience <3
First, a tattered mess of ear, tall and dipped in charcoal, would swivel to the sound of crunching snow, the ever closer steps of another. Envy paid no mind, today she was rather unconcerned with strangers comings and goings, a symptom of her tunnel vision.
But she could ignore it no longer! Not when she was spoken to. Hmm?her voice came softly, whelpish curiosity a spark in owlish eyes of rich crimson. The stranger before her was an interesting thing, a pretty sort of weird-looking, with a face split between bone-white and a darkness that seemed to swallow the rest of her. Something yellow clung to her ear, flicking in the subtle breeze. Envy’d never seen something like it, but she bit back the question for now and set down her little makeshift purse. Wouldn’t you like to know. She quipped with a tilt of her head, staring the other down intensely, eyes narrowed in suspicion. Then she snickered, crooked tail sweeping at the backs of her legs as she amused herself. I’m just kiddin’. They’re not for nothin’ imminent, I’m jus’ taking em’ while they’re here. She’d shrug, sitting back onto stormy haunches casually. They’re pretty. Thought I’d bring em’ back and show them off.She leered inward a little, pearly white chest puffed between her legs. Not quite a lie. Not quite the truth, either. RE: Bloodsucker - Mictec - January 26, 2025 mictec tilted her head slightly, her marigold eyes flickering with an unreadable glint as she studied the stranger before her. the crimson of Envy’s gaze caught the dim light, stark and vivid against her pale fur, and the peculiar contrast piqued mictec’s curiosity. her presence remained steady and deliberate, the quiet air of someone who had seen many layers beneath what others chose to show. cosas bonitas, she said softly, her tone carrying a note of caution. the words hung in the air, unelaborated, but her gaze dipped briefly to the pouch where the crocus flowers lay nestled. her expression remained inscrutable, neither warm nor cold, like a veil hiding purpose. pretty things often hold the sharpest edges, she said softly, her voice low and smooth, like the whisper of wind through brittle reeds. she shifted slightly, the skeletal marking on her face catching the meager light as she glanced briefly at the pouch. but who am i to question the whims of a collector? el invierno no perdona, she remarked, her tail waving slightly to remove the bits of snow that dotted her obsidian fur. her gaze lingered, a weight without malice, yet difficult to escape. even so, i find it curious, mictec mused, her tone almost teasing, though her face betrayed no humor. the last person i knew who would brave such weather was a healer. is that a similar sentiment you carry? RE: Bloodsucker - Envy - January 28, 2025 Envy did not know the second tongue she spoke with, and seemed to be disgruntled at that fact, a mixture of expressions clouding her face. If the other wore a veil, Envy took on a spotlight, no hiding the thoughts that scurried through her mind.
The stranger talked all fancy-like, a smooth, museful cadence to each word as they met with crisp winter air. She was right, pretty things could indeed be so terribly deadly, a potent poison swimming through each vein beneath the vibrant indigo of the petals; unseen and yet undoubtedly there. Envy admired the defense the little flowers took on, one that was so merciless and pure. And yet! There was good that could come from it too, for those who knew how to toe the line, and Envy was a born tightrope-walker. Some however, were made purely for the invocation of pain, and death; slow and convulsing, the sort that burned the organs within and let its victims speak only through a mouthful of foam. What terrible perversion afflicted her that this thought stirred excitement within? She hadn't lingered on the thought too long, as a question she understood was hurled her way. I am. N' I like ta' think I'm pretty good at it, too.She leered inwards, matching that same taunting amuse, before rising to light feet and trotting closer, closing the gap between them without caution; instead the waif boasted a confidence unfitting of her stature. Unsettling. Why'd'ya wanna know? You need somethin' fixed? She asked, enthusiasm unstifled; big red eyes practically begged for invitation, as did the slow sway of her tail. She used the closeness to invasively sniff at the other's coat, trying to gleam what she could from the physical, the tangible. She understood little from tone and expression alone, especially when intent was walled off behind them both. RE: Bloodsucker - Mictec - February 06, 2025 mictec did not shift as the pale-furred stranger closed the distance, nor did she recoil when the sharp inquisitiveness of a cold nose pressed into her coat. she remained still, steady, like the obsidian stone of a shrine untouched by time. the only movement was the slow blink of marigold eyes, unfazed, unreadable. not quite.the simple words were spoken with the weight of certainty. she needed nothing fixed. what was broken was meant to remain so, or to mend in its own time. yet, there was something in this one—something restless, eager, a flame flickering dangerously close to dry kindling. i came here to prove to myself i am not the same as i was when i was last here.the experience itself was not so long ago but in mere weeks mictec had begun to accept the blood that coursed through her veins, one of lust, of power, of royalty. so sorry for delay! life got in the way for a cool minute
RE: Bloodsucker - Envy - February 08, 2025 you're totally good! life tends to do that
Well is it working? She asked with a tilt of her head, flicking an ear. Envy found something entertaining in the unwavering stare of the masked-woman, she couldn't help but want to poke and prod at her, sniff out a crack in sentinel stone. Even her voice was all smooth n' certain, like some cryptic witch that could read your fortune, or hex your bloodline when ya make em' cross. Good thing her own was already about as cursed as it coulda been. What were ya like the last time?A bony shoulder came to nudge her side, maple-red eyes narrowed curiously, too tempted to resist. RE: Bloodsucker - Mictec - February 09, 2025 mictec’s gaze remained steady, her stance unwavering as she observed the other, the sharp glint in her marigold eyes never breaking. the movement from envy—a curious tilt of the head, a nudge to her side—did not faze her. there was no need for her to answer quickly, the air thick with the weight of unspoken understanding. the last time...?mictec’s voice was ethereal, each word deliberate. i was what the world made me, as you are now. but it’s never the same.her gaze flicked momentarily to envy's eyes, a flicker of something unreadable passing through her expression. perhaps that’s the problem. you have yet to see what you will become. her tone was sharp, yet not unkind, as if a small invitation was being offered—a glimpse into the next step, a mystery to unfold. what were you like before?she asked, her words not probing, but acknowledging the strange, familiar pull of history between them. RE: Bloodsucker - Envy - February 10, 2025 She spoke in all these cryptic terms, a non-answer if there ever was one.
Y'act like you know me. I don' have a 'problem'.She muttered, sitting back on scrawny haunches and looking the other over once more. Envy was not capable of change. She could learn, sure, but she could not change, no matter how she tried to claw her way out of this cocoon, it sought to smother her and it always always had. Something biological prevented such growth. Something innate, rotten as the illegitimate blood that coursed through wretched veins. Feral little devil, ungovernable, even by her own mind. Same old beast, now held by different hands. This was where change took its shape. What was she like before? Little more scarred, maybe. Little more attuned to the cracking of ice before she was met with a cold plunge. A little less guilty at the thought of hurting others. What the world made her. I dunno. She gave a lackluster shrug. Before right now, right here, this very second? Her head would tilt to the side. I guess I was hungrier this morning than I am now. Non-answer. She knew it too, looking all too smug about it. RE: Bloodsucker - Mictec - February 12, 2025 mictec did not recoil from the defiance, nor did she rise to meet it. instead, she held envy in her gaze like a blade held just before the strike—measuring, calculating. the girl was all teeth and fire, a feral little thing wrapped in smugness like a wolf in too-loose fur. she saw the way envy wielded her words like a weapon, not to wound, but to ward off. a flimsy shield at best. hambre, she echoed, tasting the word, rolling it over her tongue like something half-remembered. hunger—wasn't that the root of it all? a gnawing thing, deeper than the stomach, something that hollowed you out and never quite let you be full. mictec’s lips curled, not quite a smile, but something knowing. entonces dime, she mused, voice smooth as dusk, laced with something sharper underneath. when will you have had your fill? she watched the girl, head tilted, not as a hunter sizing up prey, but as one beast recognizing another. envy’s barbs did not unsettle her, nor did her deflections amuse her—mictec had once worn that same mask, after all. and she knew well enough that hunger like this, the kind that lived beneath the skin, never truly left. RE: Bloodsucker - Envy - February 17, 2025 Never.
That was the real answer. She'd always been this cursed thing, eaten the siblings she shared a womb with, turned her own mother against her, always this thing; a thief and an animal, all instinct and greed pretending to be someone. Anything other than what her nature dictates. Well. Maybe before. Now she found that she could embrace it. Put the pieces together. Her mind might've been better for it. Envy shifted on her paws, letting her expression fall to one more relaxed Y'know you talk like you're some fancy prophet.she remarks, knowing the woman's question stretched further. This time, she would give a real answer. ..I think... what I'm doing now will.. feed me. A scrawny paw nudged the satchel full of crocus petals, long nails lingering on the texture. This stuff always has. Sharply, she looks to the bone-faced woman now. But I've always been held back. Folks're pretty resistant to good ideas, y'know? She snickered ...At least it's not something I need to worry about anymore. Now she was embraced. Cradled. enabled. RE: Bloodsucker - Mictec - March 03, 2025 mictec hummed, the sound low and knowing, as if she had already expected this answer. her gaze—steady, sharp, calculating—drifted to the satchel of petals. a dangerous indulgence. a hunger not for food, but for control. for power. prophet is too kind of a name be given to one whose ledger bleeds crimson. her tail waved lightly, betraying the eagerness of pride that brewed when thinking of the times mercy was expunged from her vocabulary. i believe we are set on paths that guide us to what we deem ourselves to be a good idea, she mused, voice rich with something just shy of amusement. yet you have to be freed to chase it. she took a step closer, deliberate but unthreatening, her presence looming in a way that spoke of experience rather than intimidation. she had seen many creatures like this before. some who burned too fast, too recklessly. others who learned to wield the fire, to shape it into something that did not consume them before they could use it. now that you are free, do you know what you will do with that freedom? |
