dance with me - Nox - January 29, 2025 backdated to 27th <3 can be RO if you've not got time
He'd coaxed @Meredith along, easily catching the scent of the traipsing wench as she'd fled eastwards up the coast. Whatever union she'd had with the rogue was of little interest to the Captain, but her origins were what sparked a familiar hunger within him. They made port on a rise overlooking a sandy cove, and while the man was not keen on traversing the rocky slope downwards, it was clear they were close to finding their target. The same saltbrine scent carried westwards on the wind from the jagged cliffs nearby. Turning to her with a knowing smile. "Ye think this'll be the place?" RE: dance with me - Meredith - January 29, 2025 meredith squinted against the salty wind, scanning the jagged cliffs with a critical eye. the scent was strong, carried sharp on the briny air, and something about it made her gut twist in recognition. she didn’t trust much, but her instincts had never led her wrong before. she flicked her ears, casting a glance toward nox, catching that knowing smirk of his. cheeky bastard. aye,she agreed, voice rough like the sea itself. reckon we’ve found somethin’ worth diggin’ up. RE: dance with me - Nox - February 05, 2025 "Aye," his words crooned low, cutting above the roar of the waves as he slunk onwards a few paces. Gulls shrieked above, circling the cliffs as they made their roost. To their right sprawled a tangle of thick brush and trees, swallowing a river that cut through the headlands before it disappeared into the forest. Fur tussled in the wind, he tilted his head back to address the girl. "Whaddaya say, we stick to the trees and hope the river hides ye noisy bastards?" A laugh then, seeking her thoughts on the matter. "That bitch won't know what's comin'." RE: dance with me - Meredith - February 05, 2025 meredith scoffed, rolling her shoulders as she prowled forward, boots light on the damp earth. the roar of the waves was a familiar tune, a hum beneath her ribs, but it was no comfort now—only the backdrop to the job ahead. you think the trees'll hush 'em up?she tossed a sharp glance his way, lips curled in something between a grin and a sneer. maybe, maybe not. guess we'll see. her gaze flicked toward the river, considering. a natural veil, a cover that could work to their advantage—if they were careful. she exhaled through her nose, weighing it for a moment longer before nodding. fine. we move along the river, keep to the shadows. but if it goes sideways, we break fast. i ain't waitin' for you to pick yer teeth outta the dirt, nox. a smirk, sharp as a blade. RE: dance with me - Nox - February 09, 2025 "I ain't waitin' for ya either," she moved towards him, but his gaze never left her figure, an honest crinkle in his eyes to know they were on similar pages. There wasn't much that would hush her up, that's for sure, and the thought made him chuckle inwardly. "It's a straight shot back 'home. To the ridge, then we lose 'em in the trees - if they're fish brained enough to chase." He hoped it would be a straight forward in-and-out job, but with that came the unspoken risk of putting a target on their back. Nox welcomed the chaos, the casualty, but when it came to Meredith - a snort and a yawn as his haunches met the ground with a huff. "How are ya feelin'? 'Bout all this?" The marks on his neck a bitter reminder that he was mortal, but this he revelled in. Did she feel the same? RE: dance with me - Meredith - February 09, 2025 meredith’s gaze flicked to nox, sharp and unreadable for a beat before she exhaled through her nose, rolling her shoulders like she could shrug off the weight of it all. gotta do what we gotta do,she muttered, voice even, steady, like she wasn’t thinking about all the ways this could go sideways. like she wasn’t already weighing risks, consequences. her eyes flicked to the marks at his throat, but she didn’t linger there. she knew the kind of life they led. knew it was just another day in the thick of it. if we play it smart, we don’t give ‘em the chance to chase.she looked forward again, jaw tight. but if they do, we make ‘em regret it. whatever it took. RE: dance with me - Nox - February 11, 2025 Her voice held an edge of calmness, like the gentle lap of waves below them though her eyes betrayed her worry. Nox too had thought of what a mistake could entail, their bodies cold on the cliffs never to return to their forest. A dichotomy here, chaos and control, a war of thoughts that clashed visibly in the furrow of a brow. "We'll make sure it ain't gonna get to that point." A promise he couldn't keep, but wished he could. "Y'know, I could do with some help up top. If things go to plan," eyes came to rest on her face then, the blue of her eyes a horizon of possibilities. "Boats'n perhaps, or d'ya see yerself wanting more?" RE: dance with me - Meredith - February 11, 2025 meredith listens, her gaze steady, unreadable. she takes in his words, the weight behind them, the gamble they are about to take. she has always been one to bet high, to roll the dice without fear of losing, but this—this is different. this is building something from the ground up. this is carving out a place in the world where none existed before. i’ll take whatever you got,she says, voice firm, unshaken. but you oughta know by now, nox, i don’t stray. her loyalty is not something lightly given, but once it is, it’s unbreakable. through storm and salt and blood, she has always seen things through. she leans against the railing, the sea wind cutting through her fur, sharp and briny. the thought of more lingers in her mind, curling like smoke. first mate’s got a nice ring to it.she smirks, glancing at him from the corner of her eye. if this goes to plan. it’s an unspoken challenge, a promise wrapped in those words. she isn’t asking—she’s stating, claiming. if they succeed, she’ll be at his side. if they fall, well, they’ll do that together too. RE: dance with me - Nox - March 03, 2025 I don't stray. No, she did not. Not since he'd first caught her snooping about, not as they'd claimed the woods, not even as new faces appeared and left. Meredith was a rock in Murkwood's sea of change, and Nox appreciated her more than he could think to express in words. He comes to stand next to her, dark fur intermingling with the blond of her own as their shoulders touch. "Dare say First Mate'll suit ya." And there is a genuine smile on his face as he pulls his focus away from the cliffs and towards the sea. They'll settle for the night and be home by morning, that was a promise he could keep. RE: dance with me - Meredith - March 03, 2025 her smile comes slow—rare, crooked at the edge like she doesn't quite know how to wear it. first mate, huh?meredith echoes, voice low, almost teasing as she flicks him a glance from beneath pale lashes. there's a spark there, hidden behind all that usual grit. she shrugs, but it's loose, easy. suppose i could get used to that.and maybe she could. with him, here, like this—shoulders brushing, waves crashing somewhere far below. her gaze drifts back to the sea, chin lifted toward the dark stretch of horizon. long as you don't get any ideas 'bout ordering me around.but there's no bite in it. just that same sheepish grin, rare as gold, staying for a moment longer than usual. |
