selenia knew fancy longed to return to the flatland fields, but she herself had become attached to these mountains.
the hollow was mapped by her hooves; she drank from the clear water and grazed where snow could be pawed away. selenia followed deer into the glades and tagged along with elk in the ridgelines. she watched the lines of caribou continue across the tundra and was grateful not to be traveling.
pregnancy weighed her with more and more fatigue. selenia dozed, ears flickering from time to time.
