Strange are the stars. - Tempest - December 27, 2014

@Mikael

Tempest lay on her side, her head twisted as she gazed at the stars above her. Her mind was filled with thought, of her father, her pack, hunting, Mikael, stars, Mikael, Fox and Peregrine, Somnia, Mikael-"
She gave a soft whine and rolled onto her stomach. Ever since she had first met him, her thoughts kept returning to Mikael. Mikael, Mikael, Mikael. She had admired all the wolves, but this one was permanently stuck in her thoughts. Mikael, with his humor, his jokes, his smile...
She groaned and pressed her muzzle into the soft earth, eyes closed.

The night sky was beautiful at this time of the evening, Mikael reflected, as he walked up the mountainous caldera ridge, paying little attention to the ground as his eyes were trained heavenward. The moon was almost full, and only a thin smattering of clouds drifted across the lapis lazuli sky.

But down in the depths of the dusky darkness, he could see the faint smattering of peppered white fur and he grinned, knowing to whom such a coat belonged to. He picked up his meandering pace and made his way down, a soft smile growing across his face. The juxtaposed wolf had grown on him, her way of joking and humour was just too funny at times. He sat a few paces away, smiling happily and he whuffled gently to alert her to his position.

"Hey @Tempest. You asking for a belly tickle or something?"

RE: Strange are the stars. - Tempest - December 27, 2014

She swiveled her head as a soft woof alerted her to another presence.Tempest smiled and relaxed as @Mikael approached. Her eyes shone with happiness, thankful that he had come across her. Flicking her ears towards him, she rolled onto her side. She stretched and brushed her muzzle against his fur lightly, and felt something within her uncoil.

"Are you attempting to engage me in a tickle fight? Do you have a death wish?"

She growled playfully and stalked up to him. Without warning, she pushed against him with her side, once again feeling something inside her leap with joy.

RE: Strange are the stars. - Mikael - December 27, 2014

Mikael grinned as a soft muzzle pressed against fur, watching the slightly younger wolf rolling in the snow happily and grinned at the playful manner with which @Tempest spoke. He wasn't surprised when she stalked up to him but he let out a playful barking laugh as she pushed against him, the touch sending little sparks down his nerves and he didn't understand it.

So he just went with the flow.

Mikael grinned brightly and a mischievous spark shone in his eyes. "Depends. Do you think you can trick the trickster?" Joy was rushing through him, as well as a little playful adrenaline as he jumped a little and darted off, almost inviting the other to game of tag. But he doubled back and nudged the other, not hard but enough to unbalance her, before once again darting back with his tail moving happily. "Come on! You can catch me... can't you?"

RE: Strange are the stars. - Tempest - December 27, 2014

Tempest woofed happily and raced off after @Mikael. "Ha ha, good luck!" she cried after him. Nothing was better then a midnight race. With a mighty leap, the attempted to crush him. She missed however, and landed belly first in the snow.

She swore, but jumped up quickly to resume the chase. She got close, closer...and jumped. Hopefully, this time she would land atop him.

RE: Strange are the stars. - Mikael - December 27, 2014

He laughed into the cold winter's night air, loving the echoes of their play that rang around them. Behind him, he could see @Tempest gathering herself for a leap and a bright smile, he dodged to the side and watched as she belly flopped into the snow rather comically.

But as she gained on him, he decided to go with the flow and laughing, allowed the fae to land on him, letting out a low oof as she sunk him into the snow. Laughing all the while, he tensed and then rolled over, hopefully flipping the peppered wolf and then stuck a paw on her foreleg, grinning with a mighty joy. "Gotcha." With a grinning smirk, thought of an idea and with a playful growl, lightly tickled the fae before jumping away, pure happiness and fun on his face.
"Score: 1 for Mikael, 1 for Tempest!"

He descended into a laughing fit at the hilarity of the scene and just couldn't stop laughing at what a hilariously funny pair they made.

RE: Strange are the stars. - Tempest - December 28, 2014

Tempest felt only a brief moment of satisfaction before being pushed over. She grunted, and was about to reply when @Mikael lightly tickled her, leaving her gasping on the ground like some fish! "You dare?" she asked him, a grin still on her face.

"Score: 1 for Mikael, 1 for Tempest!"

Tempest stared at him as he descended into a laughing fit, then started to as well. But she stopped. She, Tempest, would not settle for a tie. Well, at least not yet. She stopped, then ran forward and slithered under him. She stood up, unbalancing Mikael. If all went as planned, he would find all his paws in the air and fall over.

RE: Strange are the stars. - Mikael - December 28, 2014

In one brief moment, the golden furred wolf found himself topsy turvy with his paws up and he shot a grin at the fae who had unbalanced him. "Of course I dare! Where would be the fun in life if I didn't?" He rolled and crouched down on all paws, building tension in his leg muscles as he prepared to jump, though he missed almost entirely and skidded in the snow, laughter still bubbling out of his throat.

"I can't remember the last time I laughed like this! Or had such fun! The last time would have been months ago, when Rozari and I found the best snow slide ever... Man, that was so awesome!" He grinned at the thought of brown furred fae, fond and sad that she could not be here. She would have enjoyed playing tag.

RE: Strange are the stars. - Tempest - December 28, 2014

Tempest grinned, so much it felt like her face would rip. @Mikael looked so funny, face down in the snow.

"I can't remember the last time I laughed like this! Or had such fun! The last time would have been months ago, when Rozari and I found the best snow slide ever... Man, that was so awesome!"

Tempest tilted her head slightly, confused. "Who is Rozari?" she asked. She hoped he didn't have a mate already, that would be terrible. She gasped at herself for thinking that. Mentally, of course.
She still had a grin on her face, but it shrunk a tiny bit. Not enough to be noticed however.

RE: Strange are the stars. - Mikael - December 28, 2014

There seemed to be a great deal of confusion on the fae's face and he grinned good naturedly, thinking of what fancy story he could spin. But the kind she-wolf deserved none of that.

"She's my sister, older than me by mere minutes but I love her all the same. I have no idea where she is, or if she's still alive. That's originally why I came to Teekon, to see if she was anywhere to be found. But... I've gotten attached you know? The place... The weather... A few special people."

Tempest felt her heart skip a beat. "A few special people." She walked towards him and carefully placed her muzzle over his back. "I'll help you find her, @Mikael. I'll do whatever I can to help you."

Tempest closed her eyes for a brief moment and mumbled something. She opened them again, then lifted her muzzle and grinned at him.

RE: Strange are the stars. - Mikael - December 28, 2014

Mikael sighed as he felt the other place her muzzle across his back, as he twisted and did the same to the area behind her back, her scent calming and soothing.
"I'll help you find her, Mikael. I'll do whatever I can to help you."

He breathed a happy sigh and as the fae lifted off of him, he smiled softly in gratitude, though he did wonder what the she-wolf had muttered to herself, if she was asking the Gods for help or perhaps something like the spirits for guidance. Who knew?

"Thank you. I can always count on you can't I?"

He waited a few moments as @Tempest answered, before he spoke the question that lingered around his heart and mind. "What about you? Have any siblings?"

RE: Strange are the stars. - Tempest - December 28, 2014

Tempest sighed as Mikael lay his muzzle on her back. "Yes. You can count on me." she replied in answer to his question. She sat back on her haunches as @Mikael asked another question.

"What about you? Have any siblings?"

Tempest was silent for a moment before answering. Very few people knew of her past, and she wanted it to stay that way. She knew she could trust Mikael not to go telling everyone, so she told him.

"I don't know. I didn't know my parents, they left me when I was born. The coyotes that found me said I looked dead, and it was only after a couple minutes that they realized I was breathing, if faintly."

Glancing at Mikael, she thought he must confused.

"They cared for me, the coyotes. I thought I was one of them until they told me. That was before they were all killed."

She wasn't sure if she wanted to mention her father quite yet. She wanted to forget him, in hopes he would forget her.

RE: Strange are the stars. - Mikael - December 28, 2014

Mikael was quiet for a few moments, taking in all the information the fae had presented to him and nudging her side with care, just to show that he understood her decision to tell him. Trust was a precious thing to hold after all and one should never break trust lightly.

"I can understand that. It doesn't matter if they were field mice or owls, if they cared that would be enough for most anyone. And I shall not tell a soul, you have my word before the Great Bears, Atka and Sos."

He thought for a few moments, glancing at the soft features of @Tempest beside him and then deliberated a little more. He'd never had anyone to tell his story to, so maybe it would do him some good.

"Our pack was small... And we didn't have a lot of food and mamma had an anger problems. They used to hurt us, little things at the beginning. Like pinching and not leaving marks. Then pappa killed mamma, in a fit of rage and he couldn't stop seeing her in our faces. So they treated us like slaves, as if we were unimportant and so he could forget."

She didn't need to know what they had done to gain their freedom, the blood and the gore and the terrible aching wrongness of the situation that had sought to bring about change with. Of a single wolf screaming high into the night, fanned by the vengeful flames as they watched on.

No, better to spare her that.

RE: Strange are the stars. - Tempest - December 28, 2014

Tempest watched @Mikael, a little worried. She sighed in relief when he said:

"I can understand that. It doesn't matter if they were field mice or owls, if they cared that would be enough for most anyone. And I shall not tell a soul, you have my word before the Great Bears, Atka and Sos."

She gazed at him as he thought for a few minutes, remaining silent. She pressed her muzzle into his fur, breathing in his scent as he continued.

Tempest was silent for a few moments as Mikael had been. Finally, she spoke. "Thank you" she breathed. "For trusting me. I will never break that trust."

She sighed and placed her muzzle over his back again. Trust. It was a beautiful thing.

RE: Strange are the stars. - Mikael - December 29, 2014

Mikael sighed and a soft smile stretched across his face as the fae placed her muzzle back where it had rested before, the quiet stretching longer and longer but not quite awkward. It was... Comfortable, if anything and he felt the ease at which they stood was calming.
"Thank you for listening to me. I've never really told anyone, no one wanted to listen or they never have the time."

He sniffed gently at the other's nose and grinned as he pulled away from their strange embrace, glancing up at the dark sky and his grin morphed into a soft smile at the beauty that was laid out in front of them, like the beautiful tapestry it was.

"How long have you been with the pack?"

RE: Strange are the stars. - Tempest - December 29, 2014

"How long have you been with the pack?"

Tempest, lowered herself to the ground, sprawled beside @Mikael. "I have been here for only a week or two" she told him softly."You're lucky you where accepted, after you the Caldera's doors were close` to outsiders."

She looked down at the extraordinary landscape the loomed before them. It was so beautiful at night, seemingly a world full of possibilities.

RE: Strange are the stars. - Mikael - December 29, 2014

Mikael hummed in thought, glad that he had managed to enter the pack just in time and that he wasn't forced to go elsewhere to find a home. "Well, that's good! Cause otherwise I wouldn't have met a most beautiful fae and I would have had to seek elsewhere for an accepting home and a beautiful fae." He winked with a grin and like @Tempest beside him, watched out across the beautiful landscape and sighed in a strange mix of awe and melancholy.

"I miss my home on nights like this. Sure, the landscape is radically different but the sky is just as bright, the moon just as full and somehow, it's all stil beautiful now..."

"Well, that's good! Cause otherwise I wouldn't have met a most beautiful fae and I would have had to seek elsewhere for an accepting home and a beautiful fae."

Tempest reached over and licked his cheek lightly. Then she turned and looked at the view again, heart pounding.

"I miss my home on nights like this. Sure, the landscape is radically different but the sky is just as bright, the moon just as full and somehow, it's all still beautiful now..."

"Wherever you go, the moon will follow. The moon will always be there."
In a much softer voice, she added. "And like the moon, I will follow you."
Her eyes were still on the landscape stretched out in front of them.
@Mikael

RE: Strange are the stars. - Mikael - December 29, 2014

Last post from me. You wanna wrap it up or shall this be it?

Mikael smiled gently and licked her cheek in return, turning also to view the wide white moon that took up a great majority of the sky with it's pearly visage.
Her words touched him in a place that had laid dormant for a long time. He huffed gently and reached to lick her nose carefully, gently.

"And I too shall follow you, to all the lands of this place."
