Creative Commons image attribution - Hex - March 19, 2025

Hello!

I am clearing out my PC and have a number of banners I'm putting in one place for others to use as they wish. All were edited by me, and most were sourced via Creative Commons image sites (Wikimedia Commons, Pixabay, Pexels, etc.). These images were all categorized as CC0, putting them in the public domain—I didn't want to mess with anything requiring more attribution or licensing.

There are also a handful of banners sourced from my own original photography; I can make a note of these if needed.

I know WOLF advises people to credit art as thoroughly as possible, but would "Creative Commons image, edited by mercury" suffice for these banners? These banners go back to like 2019, and barring extensive Google reverse image searches for them all, there's no way for me to immediately know where they came from exactly and/or who the original photographer was.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, you can definitely credit them as Creative Commons! Especially being before the art credit addendum, it would be very hard to go back and find them, and with Creative Commons being free to use, there's no copyright concerns to worry about anyway!

Great - thank you so much!
